3. The cat eyes represent the Grim Reaper. The restaurant guy acted as a Grim Reaper, helping lost souls on Earth move to the afterlife. He died while saving the detective and had to go to the afterlife himself. He thought the detective would be a good person to replace him.

Did HyunMin really recognise JiYoung or was he pretending? He didn’t seem surprised that she could talk. His crying feels like he’s faking it or is it just me? Other reunions and the journeys to find the lights genuinely made me cry but theirs didn’t hit the same way.
