Didn't his other generals offer to take the lead in assassinating TTJ? Ok, granted XL is noble, but his generals doesn't seem to care enough for him to take on the more dangerous role and save their KING........... ah well.

The real reason why XL lost is because he truly cares for his soldiers and his people.
