But if this had a follow up question of solo scenes that were overwhelmingly sad, I'd pick Sang Jiu finding her entire clan dead at the hands of that ××$*@÷ Tian Huan. Bai Lu was the best.

For me, I felt for Ming Ye and Sang Jiu as they parted under the lightning tribulation. When Ming Ye realized all his efforts were in vain, and Sang Jiu's sadness over how she died feeling hatred because of the way she and her clan were treated... I felt heartbreakingly sad for both of them. Really, kudos to Xixi and Lulu for that wonderfully acted scene.

Ehhh... I'm not a fan of ZLS (sorry). I can't get beyond her childlike face and voice to take her seriously at the dramatic scenes. I like Esther Yu a little better.
And tho TLI has misunderstandings galore, it doesn't have the complexity of themes that TTEOTM has.
But I'm still watching so I guess it's okay.😅
