Y'all I don't understand how most of the people here are YaoJing fans. Personally I am more of a YaoLiu fan and here's why.

SOMEWHERE TO GO: XL gave the entire ocean as a sanctuary for XY, he even taught her how to breathe underwater freely. SOMEONE TO RELY ON: (SPOILER) Since XL knows he cannot be with XY he makes TSJ the person that XY can rely on. TSJ dies later on in the series, it was XL who literally used his life to save him so XY could have someone to rely on because XL knows he cannot make it in the end. ABILITY TO PROTECT HERSELF: While CX and TSJ are only telling XY "I'm here to protect you", XL is the only one who spent several years teaching XY the best archery so she could protect herself
TSJ only makes empty guarantees and promises which he always fails to fulfill.

Is it because if they fall in love, they will neglect their duties? so Xingzhi can have emotions for Shenli but he can't confess or actually be together with her?
