despite there being no reason for homoerotic subtext (but really, there's incestuous subtext too so) i find that the scene when they're drunk and compare the two lighters really borders between friendship / romance. there was an electricity crackling between the two that i cannot explain, and i don't know if this was intentional, but i felt like the tension between them was going to snap. i could do nothing but hold my breath! my brain only imagined something, anything, to finalize what was going on between them (--be it a kiss, a hug, a punch), because it was unbearable in such an amazing way!
EP 5 was a total deal breaker for me... i'm going to put it on-hold, than we'll see =.='
It was already established in eps 13-14 that she killed herself because Yi Soo threatened to commit suicide if the sister didn't disappear. I agree, she shouldn't have killed herself, but it seemed to me as if she was suffering from before that too. IMO it wasn't handled too badly... But this drama is a 7.5 tops from me.
I liked this movie, but something I can't understand or like about dramas and movies like this, is the cheating.…
yep, i thought this too! like, she just did it with no second thoughts. and her doubts weren't even about telling her bf / making it up to him, she was just debating whether or not to break up with him. in the end she did, but it was still a betrayal. it's not like she couldn't have held herself back... i would have given this a 9.0 if it weren't for the cheating.
Oh my god, I've never seen Park Hyung Shik before and seeing him had me squealing! Omg, I'd even say he's cuter than Lee Jong Suk (who was my first ever kdrama crush after seeing him in Secret Garden). I guess I put off Hwarang long enough, even if I'm a hardcore BTS fan. And now I find out that he also plays in "What Happens to My Family?"? I'll DEFINITELY watch it now, even if it wasn't for the good reviews and my need to watch a warm family drama.
Actor aside, can you suffer from both SLS and root for the main lead too? What the hell is this drama doing to me?! I love it so much already. I'm feeling that I'm gonna like it as much as Weightlifting Fairy, maybe even more!
So did the sister like Hwan Ki? not Woo Il? I've always been confused about this because I thought she drew…
Woo Il forced himself on her, in short. He took the drawing from her, and her timid nature didn't allow her to speak up against it. She was like Gyo Ri, in that sense. The drawing was originally for Hwan Gi, as we could see from the interactions between her and Ro Woon (and later when Ro Woon was angry that Woo Il had the drawing).
I'm also not happy about how Woo Il was handled. He just got to walk away -- of course it's not HIS fault that Yi Soo has some sort of problem, be it a personality disorder or something else -- but he just LEFT, he bailed out after admitting what happened and ran away; the same way he ran when Ro Woon's sister committed suicide. Yes, Yi Soo needs to seek counseling and a therapist to help her because we've seen all her problems, and getting Woo Il out of her life was the best thing she could do for herself. But I don't mean in in that sense; I mean that he didn't face any consequences. Yes, he left his job, but what did he lose? He just got rid of all burdens he was facing.
Well, maybe I'm not making sense here, but I just don't quite like Kang Woo Il. He's a shady little thing and he seems really fake most times. I hope they'll redeem him somehow >:(
My first impression of this was soo different from what I see now. Still haven't started watching it, and I'm gonna put it back on the PTW shelf until it finishes airing. I thought it was going to be a suspenseful thing, but I guess my mind was riddled with too much 'Signal' and too little melo. Soo... binge watch it is.
Well, putting this back on my PTW list. Will check it out when it finishes airing! I actually only added this on my CW list because I saw the cute rich son from Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim had a supporting role in this. But I don't think I love him enough (yet) to go through a drama if it isn't good enough (^o^)
I rated this 9.0 but then read the review here, and it made me think a little. Obviously I haven't changed my opinion MUCH, since I rated it 8.0 now, but I see the points where it could be a lot better. However, I have watched many worse shows and the audience's reaction was far better; I believe if you're willing to look over some small inconsistencies you can have a very enjoyable time. The thing, that might be the bad thing, is that this show fluctuates between my 'two types of shows': binge-watch types and wait-types. Sometimes, the episodes end so good that waiting a whole week for it is excruciating but amazing! Other times, it's weak and would only keep you interested if you had the next episode ready to go.
I'm not one for realistic rating tho, lol, I know. It's an 8.0 from a subjective point of view.
I find it really funny that even on Yang Se Jong's page, he is listed as "Dr. Do In Bum (President Do's son)", which is what he cast away in a truly unique arc of character development. Now, in the special, he is listed simply as "Dr. Do In Bum". He did it, guys!
I actually only put this on my PTW list because of Yang Se Jong. He did so great in Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim and he's also really cute... Plus it seems kind of interesting, so why not give it a shot.
Just cried my heart out. The ending may have had some loose ends, but that didn't stop me from giving it a 10/10 because this drama taught me so much about me, my life and others around me. Teacher Kim really taught me to awaken the romantic in me, and even inspired me and pushed me to consider becoming an actual surgeon. I always sort of knew that I would study medicine, deep down in my heart, but now I am sure of it. Even if not a surgeon, I'll still push to help people in any way I can. What comes after in life is up to me; and me only.
I love this drama so much. Please give it a try, you won't be disappointed.
