K-Drama What a Rollercoaster!
You Are My Present is a vertical short (about 45 min) show featuring the outstandingly talented Thai CP, UpPoom, known for their deep emotional deliveries and chemistry. Poom plays Tee and Up plays Poom, and there is one more character I didn't catch the actor's name.
While the plot is shallower than mud puddle, the emotional delivery is absolutely on point every single time. The story feels like it belongs in an acting class workshop: exes reunite because one is selling the building that the other is working in. In Part One, they are surprised to see each other again, they have a push and pull of "should I stay, should I go," and then share the feelings they had during their breakup and separation followed by a tentative shared activity to rebuild connection.
In part two they begin to reconcile but have a strange and comedic interruption of Tee's father who seems to have some ulterior motives when selling the building. There is confusion, a passionate commitment and then a sweet ending.
For me this was also a Rollercoaster because MDL lists it as a Japanese drama, but the two leads are Thai and only speak Thai. The father only speaks Japanese, but only Tee can understand him. Also the version that I personally watched was only subbed in Chinese. So I am trying to watch a Japanese drama in Thai with Chinese subtitles and I only know English, Spanish and Korean. 😅 I was able to get a live translator working but with the emotional delivery of these two, I could have enjoyed it without knowing the specific story.
It was a very fun watch and I love seeing UpPoom's range. They are one of my favorite Thai CPs to watch.
