What makes this such a classic isn't just the violence or the way it influenced an entire genre, but the way it is still as socially relevant. A flawed but iconic movie for the ages.
On Kuriyama Chiaki Apr 13, 2024
I don't know if its the scripts she picks, or the scripts given to her - I just feel she's never gotten to really showcase her potential.

I seriously wish China allows their actresses to retain their natural skin colour (like MLs) instead of white-washing them so much. It's so off-putting sometimes.

Title Undercover Affair Spoiler
Average short drama with under-developed plot and characters, though its definitely better than most of the short…
So much for revenge; the FL spends 3/4 of the series doing nothing but tagging along with the guy and acting lovey-dovey with him instead of investigating. We got to know nothing about how/why she went to jail, how she coped. She seemed too meek for someone who went to jail. Jail life really teaches people to be tough.

We got to know nothing about the ML and his struggles. The lines seemed really blur for him, like he was a police officer but in the process he also did become a real gangster. But that wasn't addressed. He contacted the police colleague a little too easily. We got to know nothing about how he managed to reach the top of the organisation. Also what about his life beyond his work? Surely he must have some friends or family?

The romance was also a little under-developed. I get the instant attraction but for someone doing such a high-risk job, he took her in to his house a little too easily? And she just tagged along a little too easily? At least they kissed well.

The boss was also killed too easily, and all the supporting characters barely had any layer other than bitch who seduces to get her way out, jealous scheming brother-in-law.

Also the ending. 3 years he didn't contact her and just comes back expecting that she's just waiting? What a cop out. Lazy writing.

Don't tell me it's a short drama because it was almost 4 hours long which is twice the length of a full feature film. Merely talking about the script which was weak and all over the place. Doesn't help that the actors were really average.

all this over a rich person who took illegal drugs and funded a cycle of exploitation. unbelievable people on…
Yes, he committed an illegal act and deserves to be punished for it. But to say that he funded a cycle of exploitation is a bit of a stretch. Yes, drug trafficking is serious and has far-reaching consequences. But he is not the only actor / entertainer who does drugs. 90% of them do it. He just happened to be the one who got caught.

Also, you do realize that somewhere all of us have contributed to funding this cycle of exploitation, be it in the products we buy, or even supporting the entertainment industry which is run by a lot of mafia and funded from illegal money etc

Exploitation is everywhere. Rich people wouldn't be rich if not for the poor people. Yoo Ah In is just a speck in a large sea. He deserves the punishment for what he did, but no he doesn't deserve to be cancelled, and be robbed off his livelihood while criminals like rapists and murderers continue to get opportunities in the very same industry.

I was excited for this but after seeing the trailer where they didn't even bother to include a glimpse of Yoo Ah In, I am not going to watch this.
Too bad for the hard work the entire production put into this, but I do not wish to encourage this stupid cancel culture.
Anyway I doubt my opinion will make a difference because millions will still watch this, make it a top-rated show, and that will only affirm the production's decision to have Yoo Ah In edited out.
Just had to say my piece.

A frustrating drama with a ML who was too good for the insensitive FL. I really wanted to love this but the FL went too far with her cruelty towards the ML, and insensitivity towards her father. What irked me even more is that she never quite apologized / redeemed herself. If not for James and Teaw's amazing chemistry together, I doubt I would be able to finish this.
Also, special mention for the FL"s mother, who was hands down the sweetest, and wisest character on the show. I adored her.

never trust rating and hypeness for a kdrama. QoT is good shows, so much better than i expected.Thats the key…
Exactly! I always believe in watching first and deciding for myself :)
I'm waiting for QOT to reach the finale week before I start watching as I am not in the mood to wait for 2 episodes a week. Done that a lot in the past but these days, I just wanna binge hehe

A poetic and gloomy painting on loneliness filled with blank spaces, minimal dialogue, and a calming piano and jazz score. This was a pretty perfect adaptation to Haruki Murakami's short story.
Highly recommended, especially for those who enjoy films with a melancholic vibe that will leave you feeling empty.
