Just because she doesn't appear outspoken or loud, it doesn't automatically mean that she doesn't have a say. It is for two people in a relationship to determine what the balance is and what works for them, rather than for us as outsiders to deem the relationship to be unequal just because it appears like one is meek and merely appears to be following what the other says. Easy to look at the Japanese society and think of everything that's problematic with it, but if you were to live in Japan or understand the culture, then you'd have a better appreciation of the way it has come to be. I don't speak for MDL or anyone else, but it's like grading an essay. Would it be fair if a teacher grades your essay only based on the first few sentences she read, and deemed it to be boring? It may not have the best start, but it may end well and a grade should be determined only on the basis of the entire paper, not the first few paragraphs. If you don't watch a film entirely, and you're grading it based on the first few mins, then it is not fair because ratings are meant to be holistic. Again, I am not forcing my opinion on you. Just sharing my opinion. We can agree to disagree.

A smartly written movie centering around a husband's infidelity, with the most satisfying twist and conclusion. Kuroki Haru and Emoto Tasuku did not disappoint. There are tons and tons of Japanese dramas and movies with strong and powerful female characters. Just because some movies/dramas have softer or weaker characters, it doesn't represent the majority.
Also why downrate a movie when you didn't even watch the whole thing? It's not a fair rating.
