A movie that had a lot of sex, but managed to be so much more than just a sex movie. I never felt like I was watching a movie with fictional characters. The mid-life crisis they were going through, their heartbreak & love for each other...it felt painfully real. Emoto Tasuku & Takiuchi Kumi were fantastic. The minimalistic direction was perfect. For me time flew by with this one though it might be slow for some. A beautiful movie for a mature audience.
E4 = leads bickering 90% of the timeI freaking loved it. They are so cute. The chemistry is overflowing. And Ren…
BE STILL MY HEART. When he said she's valuable to him & protected her, I was fangirling. The 3 of them are seriously like family already, I love how he's so so comfortable with her and constantly butting heads with her over the smallest things. He cares for her & looks like she's falling in love with him too (the way she followed behind after the aquarium incident). He revoked the rules AHHHHHHHHHHH & her smile declaring herself to be equal to him OH MY HEART <3
And Ren is just so so precious. You can see Aiko's presence in his life has helped him come out of his shell more and he's smiling more and speaking more (rather than holding it in)
That rich male chauvinist. URGH I wanted to give him one punch. I hate people who expect loyalty & subservience from others while treating themselves as a superior being on the basis of gender, class or whatever. If you can go around with other women, so can she. And dude, chill. It was just a first meeting cum date. She's not your girlfriend.
Also while I did swoon with Karibe protecting Aiko, I do wish she protected herself rather than needing his protection.
I think the fake dating needs to stop in an episode or two. We can't have her fake dating just to get him scenarios all the way till the end & I hope he realises that soon. The good thing about this show that I must point out is that they've been very careful in not stepping over a certain line - they did not make her come across as an insensitive woman who just plays with other men's feelings, & neither is he making her to do more than just going on dates. (though the very going on a date itself is somewhat problematic). There is thought to the writing. This could very well have escalated to more & been more messy.
THAT HUG IN THE PREVIEW......KYAAAAAA <3 Can't wait for E5!
E4 = leads bickering 90% of the time I freaking loved it. They are so cute. The chemistry is overflowing. And Ren is so adorable, my heart feels for him. He is too young to be so restrained & mature. It made me so happy to see all 3 of them smile widely by the end of the episode. I must say this show has seriously exceeded my expectations. It's living up to be a wholesome rom-com <3 I missed his rabbit in this episode though. Petition for rabbit to have more screen time, please.
E2. This show is just so so good. It continues to hit all the right spots for me. I'm in love with all the characters,…
I loved the glimpses of relationship between Shinshin & Towako. I felt sad when he talked about that moment of happiness with her & how it slipped away. That made me wonder whether it was truly the love, or the feeling of being happy that he really treasures.
Matsuda Ryuhei seems to be playing a really similar character to the one in Quartet. There's a silent intensity to him, which I love. Can't wait to see how his character unfolds. The second husband seems like an oddball.. I find him the odd one out of the 3 husbands. He is honest, and puts himself out there, unlike the other two (who hide how they feel a lot more). In fact all her ex-husbands seem nice I wonder why they didn't work out. All of them don't even hate each other and I find that really fascinating. Can't wait for their layers to unfold.
I wonder how much it is Towako's fault that they got divorced. She seems to be the kind who doesn't turn back once it is over for her (which is not a bad/good thing), and I almost feel like her emotions change due to "trivial" things/random thoughts which make her snap and realise that she wants out. I could be wrong.. but it seems to me that way. The ex-husbands discuss & express their irritation or jealousy but Towako is kinda distant, yet she doesn't prohibit them from interfering in her life or coming over for meals. I wonder why..
I do hope they will uncover and look into how she manages to maintain such a cordial & even healthy relationship with her exes. It's not really common for 3 ex-husbands to gathr together with their ex-wife for meals. I do enjoy their interactions as a group a lot, but I hope we get to see more backstory on them as individuals, and how they feel about this situation (beyond the bickering to the more deep which I'm sure we will get because hey this is a Sakamato Yuji drama).
It's interesting that the 3 husbands still appear to love her while their love lives are starting to get entangled with other 3rd parties (all of whom are great actors & casting choices).. it makes me wonder where this will all go.
Special mention for her coming out with the saw.. LMAOOOOOOOO that was hilarious and the fact that she was so clueless about it just made it even more hilarious. And also all of them coming to the party, without the main menu (the meat) HAHAHAHAHA.
E2. This show is just so so good. It continues to hit all the right spots for me. I'm in love with all the characters, and our lead Omamedo Towako who lands herself in the most hilarious yet crazy situations. Each frame and second is so rich with dialogue, the various micro-expressions of the actors & the set-up that this makes for a great re-watch. The narration is fantastic. Great writing & screenplay in the way it draws parallels between the scenes, sets up the tone & ties everything together in the episode. The narrator needs to make a special appearance in this show at least once. I have the biggest smile on my face whenever I hear her voice. Special mention for the ending song - I love that they have a different rapper each episode, & film parts of it differently. The raps are so damn SICK.
Anti-hero Ono Machiko and lil Mone with hot scenes. Just MINDBLOWINGEDIT:For those saying Mone should stick only…
I completely agree! Mone caught me by surprise here. I hope she'll break out of the romcom genre to do real roles, like this one that do justice to her talent.
A beautiful movie for a mature audience.

The clips were some of their moments from E1-E3.
