So Oguri Shun is basically reprising his role from Nobunaga Concerto and the series has no connection with Nobunaga Concerto? Is that correct?

Shakespeare would be proud of this adaptation of King Lear.

The film takes us through the journey of a father blinded by his arrogance that he couldn't see the truth of his sons' greed and how the blood in his hands would come full circle to haunt him and kill him eventually. In the end, his whole lineage was destroyed. I didn't feel bad for them because they reaped what they sowed. Maybe I did pity Saburo a little for he was the only son who held his father dear and didn't use his banishment as an ego trip. But I guess he, too, had to pay for his father's sins in the end.

The writing was top tier in fleshing out all the characters' intentions and development with the actors doing full justice to the script. Nakadai Tatsuya and Harada Mieko deserve a special mention / standout for their performances. But but but more than just the performances, it is the scale and grandeur of the movie, the way Kurosawa used colours, the frames he used to enrich the characters' plights that was absolutely spectacular both for its time and even when as I re-watch this film a good 40 years later. I am in awe of what he was able to achieve back then and I always wonder what film-makers like him, Satyajit Ray, Bergman, Godard etc would have achieved in this day and age with all the technology.

All in all, this film deserves every bit of praise, appreciation and acclaim it received. Highly highly recommended for all.

This is the kind of comment people write when they don’t understand the subject but still want to feel superior. You…
I have no reason to want to feel superior to him or anyone.

I stand by what I said, and how I interpreted his statement.
Fact is he has tax consultants and accountants that help him file and they know very well what ought to be paid, and the loopholes they can use to avoid it. Yes there is an investigation going on but before writing this statement, he would have been informed about where he stands in this. You can't tell me he didn't know.
In his statement, he apologized and said he will cooperate, but not once, did he deny the accusation.

Before name-calling others, perhaps you should do some reflection on your part as to why you feel the need to bring down others who do not share the same opinion as you.

I am not going to bother to reply anymore. Good luck to you.

I can see why some people may not warm up to the FL initially but I think the writers depicted her with care, never tipping her over the fine line to that of someone despicable. Yes, she lied to various men who courted her in the hope of finding the richest, most suitable man to marry. But that's where both the beauty and contradiction of her character lied. She may go on a lot of mixers, but the moment she marries, you know she will be very loyal. She may enjoy his money, but she doesn't believe in merely taking, without working and earning her own money. She was a woman with principles, shaped by hunger and poverty at an earlier age, despite her ways that a highly moral audience may see as questionable. She didn't lie to her fiancee to manipulate him. She lied to protect herself. She lied because she couldn't trust that he would accept her the way she truly is. This was quite a contrast to her relationship with the ML; there was an instant attraction, and then there was a fallout because he wasn't rich. She judged him, and hurt him, but she never stopped caring for him through it all, and I loved watching her mask slip as the episodes went by. I liked the ML as well. While he never stopped caring for her and helping her, he wasn't a pushover or a doormat letting her toss him around. He had a silent, grounded presence in contrast to her glittering, prideful presence, making them complement each other perfectly. All in all, I enjoyed the FL's character development and her journey from a woman who wore a fake smile and a tough exterior to one with a soul, with vulnerability and a heart.

Highly recommended for those who want an authentic character-driven story.

Whew, thanks - this is what I came to check out before watching. Happens all the time in both jdramas and kdramas,…
I'm not sure if you're familiar with Kudo Kankuro's works but the way she spoke English was pretty deliberate.

Is it a realistic hospital setting? I.e realistic surgery scenes, sad illnesses etc. I've heard great things but…
No, it is a lot more of a commentary on the medical system rather than treating the actual illnesses per se, though there are patients every episode. Also, it has got a lot of humour.

I hate how they're all talking directly to the camera. 😂 Will it be like this for the entire drama? Can I skip…
Yes, they speak to the camera all the way till the end.
If you are thinking of skipping it, then don't bother watching because the interviews offer some perspective to the characters.

Title Lovestruck in the City Spoiler
The leads had the same story and the writing here suffered from the exact flaws the movie Tamasha did, so I am…
You can hide your pain behind a mask, but you cannot just decide one fine day that you'll play a cheerful character and stick to that for months without that mask slipping off.. if anything that kind of behaviour is learned, and slowly amalgamates into one's identity (not the way this drama or the movie Tamasha showed it).. writer ought to have done a little more research on psychology

The FL was obsessed with finding her identity - but till the end, I didn't understand what she wanted to find out and what she was running after?
Identity isn't a box that one just fits themself into, it's fluid and ever-changing. Our identity is whatever that we think we align ourselves with, whatever we think describes us.
Does the writer even know what 'identity'means?

Till the end, I failed to understand why she did not contact him and chose to hide, and I didn't understand why he was so stuck on her and never tried to find another? Even after he met her, I don't understand how he was able to simply accept the way she ghosted him and lied about her identity. . shouldn't the drama have shown a slow process of him accepting her the way she is and actually loving her the way she is. But in the end, I just feel like they were pretty much stuck in the past and simply accepted that.

There are hundreds more questions I have.. basically in general, the show asked too many questions and didn't even attempt to answer any.
7.9 is a far too good rating for this.

The leads had the same story and the writing here suffered from the exact flaws the movie Tamasha did, so I am convinced this was a rip off without any credit.

Yet another South Korean drama that could have been half its length. The documentary-style narrative, the willingness to have certain conversations on topics like sex, the reversal of gender role with the females being more dominant was really refreshing initially, but in the end, the show never moved beyond these surface level characterisations to explore more about these characters and what drove them to be the way they were. I liked this but it left me wanting so much more. Till the end, the question of 'who she was' and why she was so obsessed with defining her identity was never quite addressed, and it came across as a plot device to merely build angst between the leads. The other characters and their relationships were not explored adequately either and the show wasted time on filler scenes with random cameos that added nothing to the drama or our understanding of these characters. Too much time was spent on the flashbacks, with the leads going back-and-forth, dragging out their meeting to the 9th episode, which gave the main arc (the present) very little time and focus. In the end, I was left confused about their 'love' for each other beyond the fact that they were clearly sexually attracted to each other.
All in all, a very half-baked attempt at what could possibly have been a classic contemporary romance drama.

It's not his decision though. Casting directors and the producer(s) are the one to make the final call. They clearly…
The show is getting great ratings in South Korea so clearly majority of the people do not agree. Social media is not always representative of the majority of the population FYI.

And again, if you read my comment carefully - I haven't even started watching this drama yet. As I already stated, if he's not acting well in this drama then yes, he should be criticised for his acting.

RE: looks - I don't think anyone deserves to be criticised for their looks. The basic job of an actor is to act. Their looks matter as far as they are not appearing messy, looking like a bum. From the stills, he looks perfectly fine to me.

Anyway, I don't wish to argue with anyone on this. I stated my opinion and I rest my case.

Good luck to you.
