i assure you, the 'basics' isn't the MAIN reason why the MIL didnt like the FL. MIL was just nitpicking to find faults in her. it was never about the so called basics that she wasnt taught. It was her family background that she dislikes, the very same issue that occurred between GS and AS in the early episodes. MIL wanted a obedient DIL that would stay at home and fulfill household duties..the exact opposite of what AS wanted for her daughter...

IKR! the quality of the breakup was written so much more beautifully than 2521, which pretty much made them breaking up for the sake of doing it..with all the 911 shenanigans and all which completely felt out of the blue.
