Thank you so much for this! Your English is great btw. I agree, from you what you've explained, his thought process is a balance of both emotion and logic. It is driven by love but also by wanting to do the right thing. I love JC's characterization, it truly is a breath of fresh air. My heart breaks for both of them. But to see the depth of their feelings for each other portrayed through so many layers in such an uncompromising situation, I love that.

The changes are significant when she's a mortal, at least to me (not sure if you're there yet). A-Mo is absolutely adorable, but in a softer, more graceful way. There's also a calm sense of strength to her that I didn't see before in Ling Xi. You can tell by their interactions from ep 28-30 that even though Jiu Chen watched her grow up, she's no longer a child in his eyes but definitely a woman. The dynamic is totally different. Ni Ni is such a joy to watch, she's so expressive with her eyes. And I love how they've incorporated the sign-language.

Actually I was wondering that too... did Si Ming say 1 or 3 trials? Haha

Can someone tell me, is LX’s mortal life just a normal reincarnation or is she going through a mortal trial right now? If the latter, then you can expect something tragic to happen to Amo. I thought this was the case since when JC initially threw her down that pond to be reborn, Si Ming was saying something about a trial. Is this just my misinterpretation?

From watching the clips and reading the spoilers, I would say she seems pretty indifferent to the both of them. I like that she resists JC, it’s not that bad, he can handle it. He spent the first 16 episodes resisting her so it’s only fair he has to work a little. You know she’ll eventually come around, this is their show after all.

I think already from what I've seen, they are handling it well. I'm so thankful mortal Ling Xi is someone who seems to have interests and talents (her keen sense of smell and her interest in medicine), and just overall stronger sense of self despite her disability. For the love of god, the entirely of arc 1 all she ever really did was be a Jiu Chen fangirl.

About the mortal arc - from a plot perspective (correct me if I'm wrong), I would say it's to serve as a way for Ling Xi to be reborn (Jiu Chen's plan to kill her was for this purpose) so that she can one day ascend as an immortal again and be free of that curse/ability to wake the Demon King. From a relationship development perspective for our OTP, I think it's a good chance to turn the tables. We will see Jiu Chen taking on more of the role of pursuer and Ling Xi stepping back, which will be refreshing given how much she fawned over him in the first life. I'm excited to see him step out of his comfort zone and do things he may not be used to doing. It will be great if he's even a little shameless!

I saw that someone had said something about his invariable facial expressions... Are you for real? The man conveys so much through his eyes, micro-expressions, and just the way he moves.

My sentiments exactly. Glad there are others who agree. This drama is everything I’ve been looking forward to and more. I thought it would suffice to cure my 3310 thirst but now I think I might prefer this, especially with the casting. And to echo the other answer, it does seem there has indeed been a very polar response to the leads. I’m in the pro camp. The negative stuff that’s been said about them, most notably about Chang Chen, is kinda nuts to me. Old? Please. He’s sexy as hell. I’m obsesssssed.
