Thanks, Eli - now I feel like an idiot for paying....
Just asking?
For how many months you bought the subscription? Because it is just my assumption that it will be released worldwide after the entire series is over airing in South Korea.
Hey you Deok Ro, always remember that Yi San only favours you because you lied about tearing those pages when Deok Im was the real one. The day truth comes out, you'll be over.
In a controversy you must listen both the sides. Here is the statement of JTBC which was released in March.https://www.soompi.com/article/1461807wpp/jtbc-releases-new-statement-denying-possibility-of-historical-distortion-in-upcoming-drama-snowdrop
I know, I have followed the controversy from day one. I know what their concerns are. I didn't said anything against what you posted. I just said we must see both sides before forming an opinion.
Is this seriously only on Disney+? Can't believe such an anticipated drama is limiting themselves to being exclusive…
Disney+ is not a kids' app, it is just like Netflix and Amazon Prime. Disney is also not only about kids. Do you know Marvel (who made Avengers)? That is also under Disney only.
First of all this is not based on any historical event. Everything from the character to the story is fictional.…
JTBC has clearly stated that
1. Regarding the controversy that the drama disparages the pro-democracy movement, “Snowdrop” is not a drama that deals with the pro-democracy movement. In the script, there are is not a single part where the male and female protagonists participate in or lead the pro-democracy movement. On the contrary, there is a character that is unfairly oppressed because they were accused of being a North Korean spy by the military regime of the 1980s.
2. The background and the motif behind the main events in “Snowdrop” is the political situation surrounding the 1987 presidential elections, not the pro-democracy movement. The drama portrays a fictional story about the military regime, the NSP, and others in power at the time colluding with the North Korean dictatorship and planning a conspiracy to retain their power.
3. They changed the name because it bore similarity with a real life activist named Chun Young-cho but that doesn't mean the character formerly named Eun Young-cho was based on any real life activist. The similarity was only in the given name. JTBC has clearly said that the character is not based on any real life person, so you saying "Especially, the fact the heroine is based on one of the woman activist who endured torture and survived despite losing her husband." is misleading for people who don't know completely about the controversy.
I am a fan of historical event based show and I hope they do justice to the actual history. You can't deny it…
First of all this is not based on any historical event. Everything from the character to the story is fictional. Only the setting of the story is 1987 Seoul.
There is no instance of any character participating in any pro-democratic protest in this drama as stated by JTBC. Female lead's character is not based on any real life character as stated by JTBC. Don't spread misinformation.
I knew that this drama is not going to sail smoothly. But I expect viewers to be more mature when you are participating in any discussion related to the controversy. And the most important part is not believing some random tweets and comments made on social media.
Here is an article by The Korea Times for an insight over the controversy for those who are interested.
Countries where 'Snowdrop' will premiere on December 18/19 on 'Disney+' or Disney+ Hotstar' are Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, Hong Kong and South Korea. Most probably it will be uploaded in other countries when the drama is completed.
If you want to watch the drama ongoing and also want to support the cast and crew, you can watch using VPN.
And if you just want to watch the drama ongoing then there are various illegal ways to do so. If you are an old kdrama watcher then you must know it.
