This film is a poorly written film because of excessive fillers, poor utilization of characters and their characteristics, low budget, the main actress motive is not convincing and not touching, but promises a little surprise and shock factor.In this movie, they used excessive fillers, such as adding a number of cast that doesn't contribute to the main story of the leading characters. Those characters have their own story which doesn't help the main characters develop or progress the main plot. Some examples are the love stories of a waiter of the main actors's restaurant with her love interest. Another problem is the poor utilization of the chsracters and their characteristics. With this number of cast, they should have made a story wherein the cast will contribute to the character development of the main characters. For example, the father of the main actor had a stroke. This makes it an interesting character in the film, yet they did not utilize it to contribute to the main plot, it just have been merely a characteristic of the father.The movie really felt like it has little budget only. The main actress came from New York, they didn't have a scene from New York and the main actor plans to open a restaurant at Manila and investors are coming from there, yet they didn't have a scene from Manila.The main actress' true reason and motive is not touching and convincing for me. It cannot move you into tears and it even doesn't can be idolized if you are looking for a model of true love.One thing I like from the movie is the foreshadowing of the true motive and reason of the main actress. It is not yet revealed at the first part of the movie, it was suddenly revealed as the story progresses. The movie focused on realism, and tried to be made as realistic as possible but the director tried it in a creative way.
What makes the movie unique is that it solely focused on the emotions of the characters. Without such heavy balld soundtracks or songs, the emotions of the characters were highlighted, thus it turned out to be realistic.
In the movie, you wouldn't feel envious to the characters, and even to the land of Japan. It presented the way a normal Japanese people would view Japan as, unlike other Japanese films where you would love to live in Japan.
The story itself is not so entertaining. It is a work of fiction but after watching the movie, it felt like this story might really happened in this world. Probably, the director did this, so that the viewers can relate to the characters. You can really feel that the characters is only somewhere in this world. But the downside of this realistic movie is the entertainment value of it has been sacrificed. You will not be amazed of how the story it goes, it's just a story that can happen to every people around the world.
In other words, if you want to watch a movie where you can relate into, then watch this movie. But this kind of movie will not leave anything to you. I can just remember it as a movie where I can relate into. The movie doesn't change me. You will not be inspired or anything. It's just a movie that has been made very realistic, giving an impression that the world is gray and not so colorful.
Unlike this, I like movies that leaves great impact to me. I want movies that inspires me, amazes me, motivate me and change me the view of the world.
