Just started episode 15. Can someone who has read the novel explain what’s happening to JQX behind the scenes?
So he planned to go abroad to study and take LYT with her but then he knew it would be selfish to ask her go with him- even if she says yes he knows she cannot be without her parents for a long time. Initially things are fine but suddenly he has to go to his cousin's place in Hong Kong because his cousin was hospitalised - so their financial conditions are terrible so to take care of his cousin and the family he moves to Hong Kong. He had already cut his parents off. He barely had time to talk to LYT and does not want to bother her with his burden. He didn't want to be selfish - typical ML sacrificing love troupe 😭 but yeah soon it should be better because atleast in the novel i did not see these negative people around.
Honestly love your take about seo yeong. Tho I still don't like her.
Well I understood what you meant. However, from my perspective I don't think her way of talking about things is from career perspective at all. She wouldn't be dating an actor then go behind her ex who does not even like her if she thinks about her career so much. Just my opinion. I still want to give her benifit of doubt because she really had that depth. However the way she did question Dauem and Jeha just didn't feel like from career perspective but from personal front. Again we can all perceive things differently and it's alright. You can love a character and have a a different opinion about them. I really want to be wrong here because I really enjoyed Seo Young and Daeum's friendship alot.

I would’ve understood her if she were coming from a place of closure or genuine concern - but the sad truth is, she’s still not over Jeha. Her entire involvement in this film feels like it’s less about the story and more about him. She clearly still loves and admires him, and that’s what’s driving her. But let’s be honest - it’s selfish. She left another guy hanging in the open, only to now force herself into Jeha’s orbit, when he’s drawn the line over and over again. Daeum, on the other hand, is killing it with her performance. And this is Jeha’s project - he didn’t drag Seo Young into it. As a director, he has the right to choose who he believes fits the role, even if it’s selfish. Maybe he really couldn’t picture anyone else in that part. For once, both Jeha and Daeum are being selfish - and honestly, that’s okay. They’re choosing what feels right for them. The issue is Seo Young questioning their feelings when her own intentions are far from clean. She’s not just watching from the sidelines - she’s projecting, inserting herself, and trying to stir what’s already settled. I genuinely thought she’d be the one to support Daeum. But instead, she’s digging into something that isn’t hers anymore and forcing herself into places where she’s no longer needed. The love I had for her is slowly slipping away. She didn’t have to cheer them on, sure. But the least she could do was stay in her lane and not throw her unresolved emotions at people who are just trying to move forward. Right now, she’s not just heartbroken - she’s being selfish too.
tbh in eyes of many people her mother is doing soo much wrong to her but tbh it's actually the reality as this…
That's called conditioning you are right! The mother wanted her daughter to have a better life than her. That's why she wanted to take her with her but the grandmother and the aunt were extremely manipulative. I think the real reason is that she could not take her daughter and she is angry at herself so she tries to be overly protective. Even in the case of pregnancy she wanted to talk to the guy and figure out what happened but the problem is she blames her daughter for the bad reputation just like the villagers and the family it's because she has been told so! All the time she has been hearing only bad things about herself in the patriarchy family so she didn't wanted to listen to more of it yet she thinks she ended up listening to more of that because of her eldest daughter. We can understand her as much but she is also part of the whole set of people who indirectly got her child unalived
The rain scene at the end was really over the top. I feel like this drama is taking itself way too seriously,…
I honestly feel like the writers hinted at it from the very beginning - that all of this, this bubbly sunshine persona, is something she’s doing for her mom. As a child, she probably just wanted to see her mom happy - so she became this “pixie dream girl” everyone talks about. But I genuinely think there’s so much more depth to her. She’s selfish about her dreams, yes - but that’s literally the one thing her mom taught her to be. And don’t even get me started on the rain - it’s clearly tied to her mom too. She was told to enjoy the rain. Her mom did that same thing. She’s not just mimicking it - she’s reliving that moment of relief. Those memories felt beautiful, maybe even comforting. So now she wants to be that kind of person for the ones she loves - the kind they’ll remember smiling, not crying in pain. That said, I really hope she starts taking care of herself more - like, seriously. I want her to complete her filming and not fall sick again. And please… let the facade drop soon. Let us see what she’s actually feeling - not just this always-happy, never-hurting girl she’s pretending to be despite everything she’s going through. So yes I feel writers did this scene thoughtfully or may be to even push them back to reality to get a hold of themselves too. I hope I am somewhat making sense? Nevertheless the scene was so beautiful 😭
The only thing I don’t understand in kdramas with a similar narrative, how is becoming a bad person (or in this…
That's the thing! When you are hurt you cannot think so much. You just do things you regret later. I can say that because I did somethings like that - not that people knew about it but yeah things I would not ever do in my right mind just because of major heartbreak. It takes time to move on and she has yet to accept that is pretending to be cool. She is yet to heal from all the things. I think the plot was something related to healing so the setup is already good. Oh yes this is definitely for us, millennials 🥹
I agree. I did enjoy the first part of the cdrama (before the brothers left). I especially loved the family dynamics.…
Exactly! ❤️ People don't understand that you can have a shorter but a swetter version of Go ahead minus the things some of us did not like and its a good thing. Its all about the perspective at the end. And yes i preffered FBC over go ahead too!
How much points must I deduct for HIY fan girl inflation to get the real rating for this show?
You don't have to because they still gave a proper rating for this show. The ones that did not give accurate ratings are the ones who constantly compare this with go ahead and who wanted a ditto copy of it. So yeah it would have better ratings without them!

He is a tad bit jealous I feel. It's really cute tho
