This drama looks soooo promising, I seriously love dramas set in the in the early 1900's, like Bridal Mask and movies like, Ip Man and Wu Dang. :D
But as much as I love KHJ as an artist, I wish he wasn't casted... I really hope he's improved because honestly, he is a terrible actor, I don't want him to ruin such a promising drama.
Shin Won Ho and Lee WooJung are doing a great job with this series. They are so thorough I their plot that even the actors don't know their characters' real names (Haitai and Bingrae). To those out there that think this will follow the same script as 1997, I HIGHLY doubt it. These guys are master trolls and will keep up guessing until the end.
I'm so impressed with his acting. I looked up his profile it says he was born in Seoul, but yet his country accent is perfect. On the other hand, all the other actors are actually from the country which makes their accent natural.
I'm looking forward to more of Jung Woo's acting, hopefully, he will able to land more main roles after this :D
Stop comparing this to 1997, both series have completely different premises, and its also not a sequel by the way. The writer and pdpd actually intended this plot originally for 1997, but they felt kpop would be more appealing for the masses. I bet people don't like it because they can't relate to it like they could with Siwon and her obsessive fangirling.
Now putting my offended feelings aside. I love this series so far, the awkward relationships, the nostalgic sheep sound, the thick dialect, I love it all even though I didn't even exist in 1994 lol. Despite that and not being Korean I feel I relate with the characters so well.
Trash, please stop making my heart flutter (esp. Ep. 4) I think you're going to kill me with your sweetness. Haitai and Sam Chun Po interactions with each other are adorable.
Excuse me for my review like comment. (:
My eyes. The parents' drama is thicker than the teens at this point. Again, MY EYES. I did NOT need to see that kiss.
On a good point. I'm liking that all the characters are coming together now, I want to see their interactions, like how Chanyoung will act towards Eun Sang with them being the same school now plus being a rich environment, not outside, etc. Crossing my fingers that this will improve.
To be honest, I can watch this drama over and over again (with the specials and movies) and never get sick of it. Love the music, the ridiculousness, everything <3
The only person who has impressed me so far is Kim Ji Won. Her minimal English and Japanese were spot on and she's portraying her character incredibly well. I'm a huge fan of Park Shin Hye, she gorgeous and has that innocent charm to her.
The plot for this drama is going to get so makjang, I can just feel it.I'm also going to anticipate much more cringing in future episodes if the first two episodes didn't induce enough . Awkward acting and Engrish for the win! I'll continue watching this drama with optimism but so far I'm not extremely impressed.
The Wol Ryung - Seo Hwa love line was the only thing that kept me watching. If it weren't for them I would have dropped it to be honest. I Loved Seung Gi to bits in King2Hearts,I've seen almost all his work, but GFB did not impress very much. Seung Gi doesn't suit saegeuk dramas, but if they did the season two in modern day I would probably rave about it.
I came out of this drama loving the older cast. Though we all hate Jo Gwan Woong, I love Lee Sung Jae, he's so versatile and so is Yoo Yeon Seok. I had the same dilemma with Sung Joon (#lovehim) as I did with Seung Gi, modern day dramas suit them better.
Cha Seung Won is hands down my favourite Korean actor. Despite his age, he's one of the best looking actors out there.
He's such a versatile actor. Although he's great at romantic comedies like the Greatest Love and City Hall, I have to admit I like him best when he's holding a gun and wearing sleeveless shirts that show his tattoo.
Can't wait for his new drama, The Book of the House of Gu. I've been a fan of Lee Seung Gi since Shining Inheritance. He has an easygoing personality, great sense of humor, he's multi-talented (considering he didn't debut as an actor) and he's more than easy on the eyes lol.
Looking forward to many more great dramas from LSG. hwaiting~

on a side not: DEM KISSES.
