I'm loving the direction of this drama so far! At first, I was against MJxGH because of how madly in love YxGH were. But seeing more of MJ's back story and her personality made me change otherwise. Plus, Yuri is rooting for them too. The female characters of the drama are so good while the male characters are getting on my nerves a bit. Ganghwa's lack of nerve and ugh don't even get me started on how irritating Geun Sang is. (props to Hyun Jung for putting up with the man lol.)
They still somehow managed to squeeze in two kiss scenes in the last 5 minutes of the series lol. Personally wished it didn't go the romantic route because it seemed so forced.
I started the first episode on a whim on Netflix since I suddenly have a lot of time on my hands (yay social distancing), so didn't realize it is made by the same people that did the Reply series and Prison Playbook. But a few minutes in, I knew right away it was from them! The humour and tone of the drama was unmistakable. Looking forward to more eps. You can't go wrong with this director/writer duo + star studded cast.
My initial reaction to this movie was, "why was it so popular?" I left the theater feeling like I was hit by a truck lol. Being an avid watcher of Korean movies and drama, it felt familiar (which the first half of the movie is a common Korean trope), but yet so unfamiliar. I did not like at first at all because I was expecting some kind of profound takeaway or moral lesson. But a week later, I will still thinking about the movie. I came to realize that the beauty of the movie is self-contained. There is not much to think about after the movie like guessing what may have happened or why something happened. The beautiful parallels, foreshadowing, cinematography, moral ambiguity etc, are what makes this movie so amazing.
Please give this movie a second chance if you did not like it the first time around like I did. It's definitely worth that chance!
At the end of the movie, when Woo shik goes down with the stone, the first time I watched I thought that it was…
The scholar's stone is symbolic. He said previously that the stone can't seem to leave his side. I think he brought it as a peace offering, but unfortunately, it brought his downfall. Which is ironic, since Min brought it to him for success. My favourite parallel with the scholar's stone is when Min initially brought it to the Kim family, the mom remarked that he should have brought them food instead. Kiwoo should have brought food to the bunker instead haha.
This was such a guilty pleasure lol. It was so bad it was good. I love this drama because of how ridiculous it became. I like how libzcanete worded in her comment, "if you leave logic behind" it can definitely be an enjoyable drama.
They should've brought a doctor from the future, someone so "surprisingly" skilled like Oh Yeon Joo…
That's basically the plot of JIN. A male doctor from the future ends up in Edo period Japan. There's also a Korean remake called Dr. Jin, but we shall not talk about that...
I'm actually enjoying this drama and unlike what people have been saying there is plot substance. I do agree that the playfulness of the doctors does come off a little unprofessional because it seems like that's all they do. It irks me just a tad when they let personal issues enter the operating room but that's my only qualm (but honestly, I bet reality is like that too).
Hye Jung's sudden forwardness toward Ji Hong was spurred by the fact that he was gone for a solid three weeks without any communication. She enjoyed his attention and care for her even though she did not not know how to react to it. Now that his attention had been away from her for a little time, she realizes that misses him and actually wants to pursue a relationship. Ji Hong even said himself that often doing nothing is the best action that one can take.
Although I'm enjoying the romance, I'm looking forward to how the hospital politics will turn out. Will Seo Woo carry through with her father's wishes? I wonder how the Chairman will react when he realizes that his favourite doctor is the one plotting revenge against him, etc. (Although he is a little bit dense for not figuring it out) There are still 8 more episodes left to go and I can't believe people aren't willing to give the show a chance.
Episode 12 though, with the locked in patient and the psychopathic husband was amazing. >.<
I really liked Hong Ji Hong character but really writing makes me wonder about things -_- In ep 6 even he was…
I noticed it too, but there was a narration going on before the scene that talked about he hated things that disturbed his normal life. He lost his parents in a car accident when he was younger and seeing Hye Jung in danger and possibly fatally wounded caused his irrational reaction. He would okay in a situation where it did not involved people he knew personally (ex. pregnant mom, woman on plane, etc.), but this wasn't the case. I don't know if that really justifies that reaction but it does makes sense with the plot.
Was it just me that screamed during Soo Kyung and Jin Sang's elevator kissing scene? I don't see any comments mentioning anything about it. I mean I have never laughed so hard while screaming with embarrassment at the same time.
Seeing Kim Rae Won in this character gives me the feels because it reminds me of his character in my favourite Korean movie of all time: My Little Bride.
The common denominator between that movie and this drama: cheesiness (and I am an absolute sucker for it)
Who found Hye Jung's attitude change towards Hong too abrupt in episode 2? I personally thought it was too quick.…
Yeah I think so too. The drama is starting off quite cliche and little bit predictable but I like the characters so I don't mind it as much as I would normally.

The student-teacher romance doesn't strike too weird with me since I think I've watched too many Japanese dramas lol. 80% of the drama is going to be when she is an adult so I think it'll fine. I doubt they'll show incredibly romantic scenes in the first 4 episodes anyways
I have been a fan of Yoochun for the past 7 years--like hardcore TVXQ/JYJ fan and Yoochun stan, but I honestly can't even look at his face anymore. I'm disgusted. Even if he is proven innocent of all claims it does not negate the fact that he was at a room salon during his military service. I was starting to lose respect for him when he kept on using asthma as a reason to avoid active enlistment whilst still smoking. Anyways, I was just taking him off my favourite actors list but clicked out of curiosity to see the comments.
Although SKKS and Rooftop Prince are some of my favourite dramas... I don't think I can rewatch them because of him anymore even though I'd love to somehow separate his acting image and personal life in my mind--but I just can't.
Just came from watching the ep. 11 preview. I enjoy the chemistry JOHY has with both her love interests (as both men are fine human specimens lol). But I have no clue where this drama is headed. I really hope it doesn't take a turn for the cliched and cheesy leads working out without any closure for the second leads--especially HTJ. He is such a pitiful character although he is selfish (both leads are though).
But this drama has so much potential to turn "nine: nine times time travel" on us if you know what I mean. With these memory triggers, I hope the writer turn this plot device into a possibility of an open ending, or something mind boggling. It is TVN of course, so I'm almost expecting they do something crazy like that.

Bye Park Yoochun.
