yeah watch it first. there is no correlation between cruelly and wanting betraying yiyr partner in the most disgusting…
Didn't ask! OP is clearly talking about double standards re: the average viewer being more offended by cheating than they are about abuse/violence against women, This is a fictional drama full of fictional people who do messy things and are imperfect. I am not going to hold fictional characters to real life moral standards, they live in a non existent world, they aren't real. How cheating is portrayed usually isn't going to encourage someone to go out and have an affair, especially because cheating usually IS portrayed negatively in kdramas, as a last resort, as something cruel and unkind. How abuse is dealt with in fiction is what matters to me because even in real life, people can't always see it, or they bend and break victims into acting/reacting a certain way.

I'm not gonna watch a show about women, led by women, and focus more on a man, and I certainly wouldn't fight to the death in posts to defend a fictional char, even if I do end up feeling bad for him. I don't care! It is television! If someone needs television to control and bend to their morals, and spell out WHY something is bad or why a character is wrong every damn time, then that person probably isn't a good person to begin with, just a thought.

tl;dr i don't give a damn about a woman cheating on her husband in a tv show, but I do care about abuse trials inspired by real survivors and I liked everything this post had to say about that.

I haven't seen this drama yet but I just wanted to say that this is an excellent, well researched and perfectly structured piece of writing that sold me on the drama. Incredibly refreshing to see someone who understands abuse lay out so many thoughtful points . It frustrates me how obsessed audiences are with "morality" and how they hold fictional characters - particularly women, especially survivors - to absolutely insane standards. Especially because they don't seem to realise that if you watch fiction and can't sympathise with a survivor because they aren't "perfect", if you pick apart every "bad" or "wrong" response to their trauma, maybe you're doing the same thing in real life with real survivors. Where's the desire to have good morality, to be the perfect person, when it comes to that?

Will revisit this and read it properly once I've seen the drama, but thank you. Truly.

whew, a lot of sexist, weird takes in these comments. both leads are supposed to be reserved and "professional", she's married (and famous enough to be recognised when out in public which is a fine line to walk at the best of times, more so when you have a hit on your head and someone trying to kill you) and he is literally employed by her family as a bodyguard, he has to be respectful. the push & pull between professionalism & romance IS what is fun here bc both are fighting hard to maintain their roles as HOUSEWIFE / BODYGUARD while slowly developing feelings for each other. will also add that they've made it pretty clear, at least to me, that not only is her husband's family abusive but her husband is too, that adds an extra layer to her standoffish behaviour, when you are around someone who can get violent, you learn to keep a lot to yourself and not easily show emotions bc emotions become a weakness. i think both leads are doing a great job, they both really have the soulful, emotional eyes down.

also: for the people asking, there IS romance in this. it's not typical, obvious, in your face romance but more of a subtle slowburn that is built around mutual trust, respect and understanding, so if that's your thing then you'll enjoy this.
