If you continue, more episodes reveal some of their problems and communication issues. Princess admitted she regularly criticized him needlessly, for instance. He said he wasn’t a good husband as well and that he didn’t make her feel secure in the marriage.

“Story of Kunning Palace” is his better role, in my opinion. I am enjoying “The Princess Royal,” but I also find it a bit bland at times. ML character is not that interesting if I’m being honest, even though he’s proving to be more and more the save-the-day hero with every episode. Zhang Ling He is doing a great job with the character, creating good chemistry, giving us heartfluttering moments, and whatnot. But, the character itself is just a bit dull. It’s all about the Princess in this drama.

Maybe he’s convinced himself that he actually loves her this time around, but mostly I think he’s just scheming something, exactly what I can’t tell. Maybe he’s just trying to keep her in her lane and out of the way of the noble families. Also, this “interest” only seemed to kick in when she married PWX. So it could be a competition, jealously thing. When she was evaluating the bachelors at that gathering before her marriage, Rongqing didn’t seem to return her affections back then. He’s a weasel and a player from what I’ve observed.

Agreed. Her behavior is confusing. Someone mentioned, however, that reconciliation between an estranged couple doesn’t happen easily or overnight. She and PWX were estranged for nearly 20 years. Walls and distrust seem to be her defaults at this point. Whereas, trust and security were the default emotions she felt with Rongqing for 17 years. She thought he understood her.

I think he is evil. He was poisoning her in their first life.

IKR. Ronghua is thoroughly fine. And his bright happy smile all the time. I fear though that Rongqing is going to do something real dirty to him. So scared for him, to be honest.

It’s pretty good, but drags a bit. Lots of palace politics to follow. The reconciliation of the ML/FL is frustrating and confusing, but still it’s a hot 🔥slowburn. The supporting character actors are a bit weak. But the main leads are outstanding. The Princess is an extremely interesting and complex character. Zhao Jin Mai is excellent. Zhang Ling He is sexy as hell.

Agree she looks like a completely different human. I couldn’t recognize her at first either.

He’s rationalizing. He claims he is trying to save Li Rong, but really he’s trying to eliminate interference in his agenda. She’s interference.

His mealy-mouth, low-talking, mumbling style of talking nearly sends me over the edge. Worse than nails on chalkboard. 🙄😑
