True. I don’t admire toxic love whatsoever. But, their tortuous dynamic, the story, and the gorgeous charismatic actors themselves have me locked in. Toxic relationships exist in real life. This drama depiction is extreme, of course, and exaggerated for effect; but, certain elements of this story ring true unfortunately, the way some men are crazy, possessive and manipulative. It really happens. And the women who have kids with these crazy men, doing what they gotta do to survive—it clocks. The drama is nailing it.

He had issues well before this incident with his son. I believe his nanny turned against him because she could see how demented and sadistic he had become.

Baby Girl was literally thrown in the air about to land on Dimples Sui’s sword when she was adeptly retrieved and save by Xie Zheng. That was pretty explosive and dynamic to me. Exciting!

From what I can gather thus far, they are members of the previous imperial family. Qi Min’s father was the previous emperor who abdicated (Qi Min’s own words). So, who is Prince Changxin to him? Adoptive father? It appears the Sui brothers are not really brothers, but not sure if Dimpled Sui knows this.

Red-accents are the bad guys working under the Sui brothers. The Sui brothers are trying to overthrow the current imperial regime by diverting grain from the military and overthrowing various city strongholds. The ML intercepted the grain scheme and is fighting the bad guys in ep 16. The bad guys were trying to overthrow the town where the FL lives. Yes, Li is on ML’s side. Yes, your observation is correct—the Sui brothers are working together, but one of Sui brothers is trying to sabotage his brother as you will see in later episodes.

Many people swooned and appreciated the coin gua sha scene. It was all the rage when that episode first aired. Every provocative scene, the loving ones and the toxic ones, has its moment of commentary and hype and excitement.

I agree with your perspective on “Blossom.” I wasn’t wowed by that one either. I didn’t understand the hype at all. But, this Director is outstanding nonetheless. I have enjoyed many of his other dramas and now especially “Pursuit of Jade.”
