It was in extremely poor taste. Korean writers often have zero emotional intelligence when it comes to foreigners, especially Black people—what to say, what not to say. And they as a people get offended when you try to correct their thinking. Perfect example—Sam Okyere. Certainly, some individuals are open-minded. FL is immature and naive. I personally can understand though that it’s hard to know a man’s true feelings. She might’ve thought—“Is he being sincere or is this just a flirtation; I don’t want to be presumptuous or overthink things.” Then again, if a man invites you to late night walks and a trip to the beach and dinner at his place repeatedly—one should assume, that means he’s trying to tell you something, something serious, something important. She should have been more discerning of the situation and the ramifications of her acceptance of his overtures. How was she this naive? Hard to say, but I do think it’s possible, coupled with the fact that she was catching feelings for him too. She lost her good judgment.

She should have said, “Hey, let’s go to a cafe instead.” But, she was too naive and too polite to say this. She didn’t understand the ramifications of her accepting his repeated overtures of interest. She should have set boundaries sooner if she knew she was not ready to be in a relationship.
