Really enjoyed the first season, a lot like Joy of life. Second season was a big disappointment. The major cast…
I recently had time to finish S1 too and was so excited to watch S2 given the chemistry between the actors in S1.... I totally agree with you I am 6 eps in and I've already dropped it. I look at Dylan Wang and can't help but compare to Chen Fei Yu - their versions of Ning Que is different. CFY's Ning Que was more laid back and confident.
It started off very interesting but since the story line shifted back to the political/royal family setting it went down hill from there... also what was that awful fighting scene in the last ep. This is wuxia not a Marvel production lol
Finally got to watching this after it being on my plan to watch list for years. I think its one of the few dramas that I've watched without wanting to fast forward or skip any scenes.
Before watching - I thought Bai Feng xi's character would be a 'cold-beauty' which didn't quite fit Zhao Lu Si's image. 12 eps in - I'm glad I was wrong because ZLS is doing great. She also brought in the awkwards/comedic style of acting she excels in (which I LOVE and can't get enough of).
Zheng Ye Cheng’s historical roles are to die for. He looks so good in all of them. Up to ep 10 so far, great chemistry between the leads. Easy to digest Romance.
Yeah but its not an official streaming platform. Its not on WeTV, blocked for VIP only on Youtube, MGTV not available in Australia. Super weird no official streaming platform has rights to it on the day it was released. I guess probably have to wait for Youtube for free users or pay VIP on YT.
It’s a fun drama but I can’t help but feel bothered by Qiao Xin’s acting. She acts the same as her modern drama roles, her character here is supposed to be someone from historical times and daughter of a noble family. I think they are using their own voices here, her enunciation is quite poor for her role.
10 eps in so far, the FL and ML was perfectly casted. Timmy Xu portrays the feeling of a young man admiring / falling in love with an older(ish) woman very well. Just like Rattan, Jing Tian has found the perfect time period that matches with her acting and image. Something always felt missing whenever she did historical dramas.
I literally had zero expectations going into this and I wasn't even sure I wanted to watch this after checking…
I agree - their romance seemed so forced. Its as if the directors just decided "we know you know they are a couple so we won't even bother telling you why or how it happened"
What a waste of LYF's return to historical dramas. The plot and story had so much potential but its poorly written. The first few episodes just drags on and on - the way the story/world is introduced is so messy. CYQ's acting is also a disappointment, she doesn't blink and just stares. I feel like her screen presence currently isn't good enough to be the FL, perhaps SFL - which worked well in Ashes of Love. As someone who has seen a lot of Xianxia genres - I'm glad i had no expectations going into this, didn't expect there to be anything fresh.
I'm not sure about the pace of this (up to ep 22). The colour filter also makes everything so ashy which is annoying. Everything except the script / action is perfect otherwise.
Yep. The bulging eyes in early episodes just made me laugh. In the last few there was a bit of an improvement…
I think he is just the jealous second male lead, his intentions seem to be driven by Jiu Ling not being “his” and nothing else. The whole plot is very poorly written anyway I don’t even know why I’ve come this far
Everytime Du Ya Fei appears his facial expression is like (◉_◉) and his method of 'acting angry' is either twitching his face or look as if he is constipated. I'm sorry but his acting is just plain awful.
Bai lu's acting has improved a lot! Her crying scenes are so infectious. Ren Jia Lun as per usual excellent with historical dramas - his modern dramas this year have been a miss for me. Really beautiful drama. The romance aside, the plot is kind of silly...
Agree. I think this drama is Liang Jie best work all of her dramas.
I think this drama has showed the most maturity and improvement as an actress - which make sense considering it was only filmed in January this year I believe...
As someone who has seen all her dramas and thought she only has chemistry with Xing Zhaolin (I didn't even like…
Although Eternal Love was a fun drama - but everytime I see the pair together (XZL and LJ) it feels like big sis and his little bro (and he is a bit younger)
I think out of all the dramas Liang Jie has released so far these 2 months - her chemistry with ZXC is the best. Can't wait for more of his work now - his acting is really good.
Okay so I've finished the series... the ML acting become increasingly subpar as it goes on. Initially he did alright as the spoiled priviledge brat but once his character matures especially after he heads to war - he looks like a child trying to act like an adult.
There is also a lot of plot holes and things that didn't make sense - the whole court/public is treating him like a war god when hes only won 1 war and gone for 3 years?? I know this is supposed to be a light hearted fluffy drama but it seems like things go way too smooth for him, its as if there is no plotting required for his revenge at all...
Finally HYT doing a character that suits him again. You Complete Me was a good change but you cannot deny he is better suited for these type of characters.
