Just finished watching this. What a hidden gem. Can't believe it's rated so low. Just beautiful. The synopsis (and title) doesn't give it justice at all. Plus, all that food porn... *drools*.
The separation scene was amazing and touching but the reunion scene was emotionless and flat. I don't know…
I agree that it would have been awesome to extend the ending even by 5 or 10 minutes to give us a bit more time with Im and Ahn Kyung. At first I was disappointed there was no reunion kiss or hug, but looking back at that scene, I think it hit the right notes. If it's been several years, then they need time to reconnect and find that level of intimacy once again.
As to whether or not the past will change if he stays, I don't think so. There are some clues to this - firstly, he accomplished everything that was written about him - he saved people during the war, he became a royal physician and he wrote books on his techniques. The second clue was Heo Jun telling him that history says more about him than about Im, which makes me think that Im had nothing more to do in the past. As far as history goes, he died (went missing).
Theres no way I can be the only one who can't stand the female lead omfg she's super annoying. She's…
I didn't like her at first, but she's grown on me. I think it's part of her story arc - she's definitely self-righteous in the beginning but I think in later episodes, her character grows and softens a bit. I love that each of them learn from each other.
Drama is so so good. The writer knows how to hit all the right notes without trying to hit you over the head with Anvils. I'm praying that it ends well. I'm having heart palpitations thinking about it already.
