The plot is make sense to me also the romance also in the right set up as the ancient china would had at that…
That's a good point actually, I'll keep it in mind! I really like the women empowerment trope in the cdramas (like in New life begins and Flourished Peony), especially historical, but I know it's not realistic. Although it's fun to watch, ancient China was definitely not the best place for things like, for example, woman standing up for herself against her abusive husband, not to mention doing even greater things. Thanks for pointing it out. I may find it a bit annoying, but now that I know about it, I'll probably take your point of view and see FL's actions as realistic for the times she lives in.
FL is a whore She’s entangled with three different men , and inlove with two of them !The only thing slightly…
I asked if the drama is worth watching, not about anyone's personal opinion about the FL. Same with romance – I asked how it is in the drama, not anyone's opinion about FL's relationships.
And lastly, next time instead of bashing about how bad you think FL, script and acting are (or whatever else reasons you may find), you should take into consideration that when someone asks if the drama's worth watching, you could just say "In my opinion it's not worth watching". You would come off as much nicer and more approachable person :) And a tip for the future drama-struggles: You can just drop the drama if you don't like something about it.
If you’re looking for something like the imperial coroner - cute romance while they solve cases, then it’s…
Actually I watched Imperial Coroner already haha It didn't become one of my faves, but it was enjoyable. Now I'm waiting for more episodes of second season to air so I can do a little binge watch haha

Thank you for so detailed reply! Now that I know what I'm getting into, I'll probably watch it soon. Although I'm big romance fan, sometimes I like to watch something with little to no romance. Your reply is even more helpful because I know what I should expect. I'll keep in mind to focus more on the story, cinematography and investigation rather than romance. Thanks again!
my fellow viewers, is it worth watching? How's the romance and chemistry going? I like topics like detective and investigation and I saw it in the tags and I love romance with investigation together, but i tend to base my decision on whether to watch a drama based on the ratings here (I know, not the best way to choose dramas but I can't help it) so I'm not sure if I should start this drama. Please let me know, cuz synopsis looks good but I'm not fully convinced...
I wouldn't get hopes high for the more episodes part, unfortunately. As far as I know, more than 40 episodes aren't…
Honestly thay was a huge emotional roller-coaster, the last 2 episodes. I'm not happy about the ending only because I don't like this type of endings haha
And yeah, it surprised me and confused me greatly. But on the other hand, there's a hope for the second season, so I'll just keep my fingers crossed that it will actually happen.
Lastly, now with how the things ended I'm considering reading the novel, even though just a few hours ago I said I'm not planning to do that. The need to know what will happen next and how the story develops is rapidly growing inside me and who knows? Maybe reading the novel will actually be the cure for my curiosity? Hahaha

That's amazing to hear! Honestly I was worried there will be some unfinished things left but now I'm relived knowing that by 35th episode the situation is quite clear. I started worrying after I read some comments saying that "there's only a few episodes left, will they be able to wrap the ending well?", and at that time I was around 25 episode so I didn't know much about later events in the drama and how story could develop. And now that I know the drama sticks to the novel very closely I'm even more happy. I didn't read it and I'm not planning to do so, but I always preferred when the film/drama adaptation stuck to the story from the books (I'm looking at you, Netflix adaptation of Witcher..). Thanks for the info, now I feel like it's safer to watch because I'll probably won't be dissatisfied or disappointed by the ending hahaha
i'm really hoping for s2 they would give it more episodes and put more effort in editing the cgi, in some scenes…
I wouldn't get hopes high for the more episodes part, unfortunately. As far as I know, more than 40 episodes aren't possible. I'm not sure whether it was in 2022 or 2023, but back then, China put a restriction on C-dramas that limits the number of episodes to 40. Maybe you noticed that unlike the dramas from earlier years (for example: Ten Miles of Peach Blossom (2017) over 50 episodes, The Story of Minglan (2018) over 70 and Eternal Love of Dream (2020) over 50 as well), more recent dramas (from 2-3 years ago up until now) do not exceed 40 episodes. There could be special episode that is marked as 41 (or more if there are more episodes like that) but it's usually much shorter and it's closely connected to the ending or what happened right after the end of the drama, (like in The Double, and Princess Royal). So yeah, I'm on the 33rd episode right now, but it feels like the remaining 7 episodes aren't enough with all chaos that's happening in the drama. On the other hand, I accepted the fate of rushed endings that's kinda forced upon C-dramas. Would some of the dramas be better with at least 3 to 5 more episodes? Probably. But I can't change drama laws in China, so I just try to understand that it's not entirely the drama's or its crew fault if the ending could be rushed. Sorry for long reply hahah
The end of ep 10 😭 oh the feels. YYK, and the writers, did such a phenomenal job!! I know two more eps to go…
Thanks for that. Now I'm sure that I'll have to wait patiently for at least 11 ep, because I won't be able to handle emotionally heavy episode without knowing what happens next haha
On a side note. Ive noticed a lot of cast list on MDL having ppl as 'main leads' that are most certainly not main…
I think it happens quite often with the second ML and FL, especially when they are paired in the drama. Usually in that case second couple will be also directly connected to the main couple, for example – Businesses Proposal has FL's best firend and ML' s best friend (aka assistant) are listed as main leads as well. The same situation is with more recent drama No Gain No Love, FL's younger sister and CEO of company (connection to main couple here is a spoiler so I'll leave it like that) are listed as main leads. Out of curiosity I checked drama that for me has a little bit similar vibes to WTPR, Marry My Husband and the cast there has even more people listed as main leads – two main couples and FL's guy friend from high school.
I usually assume that if there's second couple listed as main leads after the actors playing FL and ML, they are connected to them and/or they will also be a couple and I'll get to watch a bit of their love story too.
Technically yes, later something happens in main leads lives, however I don't want to spoil anything so I'll leave…
No, I didn't read the novel. It's just that one of the bodyguards of ML died 🥲 I didn't want to spoil it, but now I saw someone else already said that in another reply to this comment 😅
I still hate the father . no cookies from me for finally finding your balls after the 100th conspiracy against…
Exactly my thoughts, it's good for Dou Zhao to forgive him not because he finally did something, but for her own peace. HOWEVER, my daddy issues are screaming that there were too few changes in his behavior to simply forgive him.
So that’s it; our wait is over tomorrow they get married? I really do enjoy the plot and the slow burn here…
Hopefully! And if I checked right, there will be 2 episodes tomorrow, so I'm really counting on the whole marriage situation to be beautifully resolved in these episodes.
After reading just a few most recent comments I'm sure I need to wait for this drama to finish airing. Not knowing what happens in the next ep, while the only option is to wait – that's a pure torture, especially when it comes to Zhao Lusi and Liu Yuning 😭 I'll stay blissfully unaware of the events in the drama, but I wish everyone that's watching strength and great time!!
I gotta hand it to Chi Sha, he has done a fantastic job for us all to hate him so much. I hope his next role is…
Totally agreed. I loved his character in Forever and Ever, maybe he was clueless or ignorant (I'm not sure cuz I watched it some time ago) at first about the girl that loved him (ML's sister/cousin??), but when he realized his feelings, his devotion and love made me kinda fall him and look for more of his works – unfortunately I didn't find anything that interested me. Because of that I was disappointed when I found out that in The Rise of Ning he plays such an easy to hate character – this is definitely a hard thing to do.
I have a question that has been eating at me since yesterday's episode (27)...where the he.. did YN's neck bruise…
I could remember it wrong, but I think the first time she showed up without the bruise was right before the old maid of the first madam tried to push her into the pond. Right before this scene, YN's maid said YN should go back to her room because she had just recovered. YN responded that she was in her room for the last few days, so she wanted to go out to breathe.
That being said, I kinda assumed she miraculously fully recovered from the bruise during these days she spent in her room, so it's understandable that she didn't have it anymore. Besides, I think we can both agree that Cdramas (and many other series/movies) that wounds and bruises, and the healing process usually doesn't look realistic (multiple stabs and sword wounds, I'm looking at you...) So, if I'm right about the scene, combining it with the healing standards in Cdramas, I guess her recovery was realistic enough, at least for a Cdrama, haha

But thank you for the rec anyways!!
