You are almost correct… if only Jing would have some grey characterization it would make most of us gladly jump…
For me, it's that he lets people down because he's a people pleaser. When you try to please everyone, it doesn't matter how good your intentions are, you end up pleasing nobody. You've got to be prepared to be seen as the bad guy sometimes in order to do what's best for the most important people in your life. He wanted to do the best for everyone, not possible, and he fucked up.
Shockingly good. Every character (except the evil princes) is well written and are all given quite grey characterisations. Characters are actually given proper reasons for the things that they do. The actors are fantastic, and the.searing gazes are electric. I'm 45, and have very much lived a 'been there, done that, bought the t shirt ' kind of life, but they still managed to give even me moments when I felt like I was looking at something that was not meant to be seen. LOVED THIS!
I was supposed to spend my Sunday morning doing chores, and have instead watched the first 10 episodes of this. SHOCKED by how good it is. The camera work is stunning, and Daisy is GIVING vengeful bitch. I have to stop for now, or I'll have no clean clothes for work next week, but can't wait to watch the rest.
Unhinged madness. Zero budget, zero plot, zero fucks given. The love interest's hair was clearly cut by a blind person using a lawnmower in the dark. The affair partner wearing a towel in the bathtub. The least sexy mad for each other couple in cinematic history. This drama is what happens when you give 14 year old girls some drugs and $50. Chefs kiss.
My poor baby girl so heartbroken in ep 7. She made me cry. I have a daughter almost the same age, and I just wanted to Mum her and make her feel better.
I've only watched 2 episodes and I already adore this drama. Zhao Lusi is such a darling, and reminding us all of what is was like to be 17 and horribly embarrassed in front of the boy you like 🫢
I just spent my entire Sunday binging the first 13 episodes, and now it's bedtime and I have no clean clothes for work tomorrow. I'd say it was worth it :-)
They use like reflective surfaces during filming that makes them (esp their face) appear lighter if that's what…
It's quite noticeable in all episodes with daylight. Scenes filmed with night lighting are more forgiving, because the softer light is naturally more forgiving. There's an episode early on when even the little assistant to the crown prince is made up so terribly with the lighting that he looks like he's dying. The makeup artist for this drama must have been on their first go round.
God the makeup artist did Dilraba dirty - that foundation is hideous. They could have at least taken it down her neck and decolletage so that it matched.
Beautiful story about friendship, family, and coming of age. Hu Xian Xu is a delight, and his smile lights up the screen. Very charismatic young actor.
