I'm sobbing. I cannot believe I put off watching this drama for so long. It's just so quietly exquisite - a deep dive into the human psyche without being overly dramatic. I felt that this role was a nice balance of 'cute' and serious for him. He looks young enough to play the puppy love, but he also looks old enough to tackle more serious dramas, and he's absolutely got the talent for what that would require, especially if he works with a great director.

It's a label that's hard to shake when you go into the industry as an idol instead of a trained actor. It could be harder for him as well, because he attracts crazies in a way that is very much associated with idol status. In 10 years he'll probably lose the label anyway, because he'll be too old for it (although he then may be referred to as a former idol - we'll have to wait and see on that one), but it would be nice for him to have it happen earlier.

Xiao Zhan's performance in this drama has been top notch. Amazing how much he's grown as an actor. His facial expressions are so in the moment and realistic. I hope he manages to drop the idol label, because if he continues acting, he's going to end up being really amazing and deserves more serious recognition for it. It would also be nice if he could live a more regular life, not surrounded by the chaos that being an 'idol' brings with it because of all the crazies.
