Yeah the ending doesn't show him and Bai Qian together in the end

I mean...maybe check it out if its available online for free?? Just to see the differences? The CGI and settings are at least movie quality (except for maybe Mi Gu). I just don't recommend spending actual money to watch it.

Sujin stole A-Li's blood to unlock the bell and free the demon king. To reseal the bell Ye Hua used his soul which ended up freezing everything and he sunk into the sea while Bai Quan cried through the layer of ice. Then for some reason they played a bunch of earlier shots backwards, showed Ye Hua saying 'come here' (in I'm assuming a dream sequence sort of way??), then Bai Qian running through the peach blossoms, then Mo Yuan opening his eyes (he was previously sleeping for the entire movie in a block of ice) then credits.

He was left out. Only Xuan Nu was there and they literally never explained her backstory she was just suddenly introduced as some demon woman who wanted to revive her dead baby.

The editing was terrible, there were really random cuts and pointless shots. The plot was really badly cut and paced too. Like they started immediately with Bai Qian meeting Ye Hua at the Eastern Sea and it was because A-Li was being kidnapped by Xuan Nu?? (Also Bai Qian thought Ye Hua was Xuan Nu disguised so she fought him for like ten seconds). They moved past major plots incredibly quickly and dragged some parts on. If you didn't read the book or watch the drama you would've had no clue what was happening.

Also they made Zhe Yan into this flamboyant character that made it kind of hard to take him seriously most of the time (people laughed when he appeared) and Mi Gu into a CGI cartoon. It was also really weird to see a constantly smiling Ye Hua but it might be because I'm used to seeing the drama version?? I felt like in the drama it made sense for Bai Qian to fall for him because he risked his life to get her the magic plant but in this one she just suddenly starts kissing him because they've lived together for a while. Then they go get the magic plant together but no one is really hurt. One of my favourite scenes in the drama was her jumping off the terrace but in the movie she somehow was chased (for unexplained reasons) holding her baby, then Sujin somehow led/forced her up there (??) but she didn't jump until Ye Hua actually caught up to her and had a conversation with her. The ending was so unsatisfying that you could hear audible "huh?"s in the theatre.

I can understand changing some things to fit a movie format but even as a standalone movie this was...not good.
Sorry this got kind of long (it could be longer) I just really didn't like it LOL

I watched this in theatres and it was really disappointing tbh. The drama is a lot better imo
