This drama started off very well, but towards the end it lost its spark. What caused it to lose it spark was how long they took to put the main couple together. Honestly, I know she dies in the end, but I just feel sorry for the male lead. He worked hard to get the female lead, only for her to die in the end. I understand that she didn't want to be a concubine, but she really dragged this out. She dragged this out so much, I grew annoyed with her. Now the main lead only have one episode together before she dies. How annoying. I don't care if she was based on real life, as much as I initially loved the main female lead, I got annoyed by her behavior of dragging the show after the king told her multiple times that he loved her so much. I might change my comment after the last episode. I'm on episode 16 now.

Alright guys, this had a good open ending, but I like to write an alternative last scene to the one to the last episode. Park Dong Hoon closed the gap between Lee Ji An and himself and kissed her. Then he got down on one knee and proposed to her with a big smile on his face. LOL just kidding, but let me at least dream and believe that the two will possibly be dating in the future... Wow, I had no idea I would enjoy this drama so much and wish for our two main leads to end up together <3
Park Dong Hoon and Lee Ji An could have and should have and kissed and I bet nobody would've minded.
However, in my opinion, the side couples of this drama were annoying and dysfunctional as hell. The bar lady and monk's failed romance annoyed me because the bar lady refused to forget about their past relationship that the monk had already moved on from for 20 years. I mean she could've found another guy and moved on to, but she kept allowing herself to hold on the hurt to move on and kept bothering the monk. And don't get me started on the younger Park's relationship with the actress. It was toxic, dysfunctional, and annoying.
Anyway, this is a good drama and I recommend this for anyone who wants to be taken on a ride.
This is a Great Drama. And if you are unsure about watching it, just watch it. Seriously you won't regret it. The ending was haunting and couldn't have ended better. I was honestly tired of the overrated kdramas hype that's been going on lately. Especially in crime dramas. Honestly, in my opinion, before I watched this, Signal was the only crime time traveling Korean drama where the hype was real and deserved. It was seriously that good, and all the others could not even come close. Anyway, just watch this drama. All the characters are memorable and you'll grow to love the main crew. Plus, each case was engaging.
