it felt draggy at some point for me too, but there were bits of humor here and there that helped me moving forward. Overall, I love it though cause when it's good, it's really good and the execution really hits the spot.

I feel like it's the chancellor, his uncle, was the one who orchestrated that. So his sister, ML's mother, could become the empress. But the plan backfired, though that could e too cliche.
but after all, I guess the story is meant to be somewhat absurd in a funny way so your theory might actually be right 🤣🤣

My theory is the ML was totally a jerk but since the FL got transported in there with her prior knowledge of the script, and her personality being nothing like the frail Song Yi Meng but rather herself Song Xiao Yu. So the writer just let the characters lead the story however it would flow. But when the characters are not going in the writer's desired direction the writer would rewrite it (hence the pauses and keyboard sounds). So I think the original script is bound to changed since now the ML's feelings toward her and their relationship dynamic has changed.
The butterfly is probably the events set by the writer that bounds to happen e.g. the fire, but now the ML helped FL without any ulterior motives or the writer controlling it.
but as for who the writer is, is it herself dreaming in inception (hence the name 'a dream within a dream') I guess we will have to keep watching.
*I still have my suspicion about her mentioning powerpoint so often as if she's not an actress in real life but rather an office worker like all of this are just 'a dream within a dream' *or she could also be an actual actress but dreaming about rewriting the bad script while also imagined herself being in it.
