I did like this series quite a lot, the characters are honestly some of my favourite in the whole Kamen Rider franchise but that just makes it so glaringly obivious that the female characters are being disenfranchised a LOT and I do mean a LOT. It is especially apperent with Megumi and Yuri, why aren't they allowed to fight? Why does this idea of men 'protecting' women have to get in the way of their development? Despite that, it was a pretty awesome series.
I love this movie, really. A perfect incapsulation of how the modern world isolates people and how even sex (the most physical, empathic and passional human activity) can become cold and mechanic, in serve of an uncaring state (parodized in the song scenes, especially the one with the statue). The justapoxition of Tsai' characteristic style with energetic tradional songs never fails to be cathartic, a true masterpiece.
I'm joking, I love long and slow movies, I'm eager to watch more of Lav Diaz's stuff.
