Love your article.
In my experience as a kdrama addict. Meteor Garden was my first asian drama and Full House was my first kdrama. Won Bin was my first k-actor crush.
In my timeline, I remember watching My Girl and being sucked into it due to Lee Dong Wook and after that I watch a lot of dramas until I also fell into a slump and moved over to American series.
Boys Over Flowers was a slump breaker for me.
I really really love prosecutor princess. Back when everyone was watching Personal taste, I was falling in love with Prosecutor Princess. I love how the love between the couple evolve, it did not feel rushed or forced like some drama.
Lee Jong Suk was in prosecutor princess.. he was still an unpopular actor during that time
i keep on hearing good things about ugly alert... I must really start to watch that although the number of episodes is daunting.
I was surprised that I really like this...I started watching this with little expectation and lo and behold i got sucked into the drama pretty fast. I felt rooting for the couple to overcome their obstacles... The drama storyline was nothing new but I loved the execution of the drama and I guess I always liked drama about "first loves".
A must watch for those who loves dramas about "first loves".
Its my 2nd time to watch Kang Tae Oh, first was After school where he was a goofball, surprised that he can act and do dramatic scenes as well. He really sold this drama for me.
truly a nice feel good rom-com that I liked. It has plenty of drama cliche but done right. It was reminiscent for me of how I felt while watching the oldie but goodie My Name is Kim Samsoon.
@ Soul_Sale may i recommend a thai movie instead. I recommend Teacher's Diary. It definitely does not follow the usual standard romance comedy trope and I really enjoyed that movie.
@ Kawtar idrissi May I suggest Healer and Can You Hear My Heart. I loved this two dramas to pieces and have re-watched them several times. Healer is a good drama to watch, it is a drama that balanced well action, suspense and romance that made a lot of dramafans squeal for. Can You Hear My Heart is a drama with romance but i love it because of the message it as about love and bond within families. One of the heartwarming dramas I have watched.
@Charity A thank you so much for your list! There are still some up there that I have not watch
I got sucked into the world of lakorn because of Full House Thai version, but after watching other Lakrns, I agree that it is not like your usual lakorns. Its more similar to korean dramas. But I'm glad i was introduce to watching lakorns.
Mia Taeng was intriguing for me to watched although half of my brain is telling me that the choices in the drama is not acceptable. Would love to hit the lead guy's head with a pan several times while watching. Its addicting though and I finished it while shaking my head most of the time. it was compelling enough for me not to drop it.
Thank you for this post. i got excited because I currently diversified my viewing options and was introduced to the world of lakorns and thai movies, so i've been looking for recommendations.
My most favorite thai rom com would still be "Crazy Little Thing called Love" which I love to pieces. I also love bangkok traffic love story and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a rom-com to watch.
ATM: Er Rak error was okay and it had funny scenes . Will try to watch seasons change.
I also recommend Teacher's Diary which was a refreshing take on a Rom-Com .

Love the second lead couple from King with 2 Hearts, they were endearing.
