I get that the characters are pretty much children, but how YiFei handled the whole situation with Da Wei is idiotic. After everything that happened in the hotel and with Guan Chao in the club, it is absolutely clear what kind of person Da Wei is (typical maniacal, violent gangster who obviously isn't about to have some kind of moral awakening) and what his goal is (Yi Fei...'s body). And her grand plan is to meet him alone in his car under some abandoned bridge in the middle of the night.... like girl what did you expect to happen? He just agrees to take some money and immigrate to Myanmar? Even if she didn't want to fully explain everything that happened to one of the adults, the whole Guan Chao hostage situation would've been enough for any adult to understand the danger involved, and to at least come up with some backup plan to ensure her safety, even if the plan does involve her going to talk to his guy. Of course, I get that this is pretty typical "good guy" behaviour in literally every thriller/crime/suspense/cop drama ever... if the good guys stopped charging into known bad situations impulsively, an entire genre wouldn't exist.... but I just needed to get this out there because I was so mad while watching this whole section. It doesn't make everything that happens after less heartbreaking of course.... maybe more so actually because there's a chance it could've been prevented/ended better.

I just finish the ep 39.Overall, it's 10/10 for Wang Kai and Tan Songyun's deeeeep chemistry. The plot is actually…
I remember really liking this scene too - you can tell the director put some thought into his camera language there to establish their very different personalities without having to say a lot. Side note what really stuck with me was that GNT's house is always sooo dark! Throughout the drama I kept trying to see if his house actually doesn't have lights, or is he just not turning them on because he's Batman and lives in a cave.

imo a confession in his dead girlfriend's memorial shrine room is a bit weird and creepy lol 💀
Okay I'm glad I'm not the only one who had this thought haha. Tbh if I was CX and I saw that this guy kept an entire room in his house which was basically a shrine to his dead girlfriend.... I would probably try and run away. (Ofc as audience we have lots of context into GNT's journey that you wouldn't have IRL, and also... GNT looks like Wang Kai HAHA so i'm still glad they got together)

I couldn't agree more. She's a toxic, manipulative, controlling psycho who tried to ruin her own child's life and who is also straight up rude to people who have no beef with her whatsoever (like GNT) for no reason other than that they support her daughter. It makes my blood boil to see CX apologizing to her and feeling bad for her - like yeah okay, so she has some sob story but again.... if you are sick, GO SEE A DOCTOR. Your family doesn't have to just sit around and suffer your abuse because you refuse to deal with your own problems and they definitely have no obligation to forgive you after years of said abuse.

I don't think most of us would have thought of waiting for almost 40 episodes o see GnT get over his issues. If…
I often find that audiences have a high degree of acceptance for dramas with a wide variety of content, but a key factor is adjusting the audiences' expectations so that they know what they are getting into. Unfortunately this drama was marketed as mainly being about aviation stories & CX's career growth, with a sweet romance on the side, but the reality is that it is largely a lot of unnecessary and plot-hole-filled drama and endless dragged-out angsting by the male lead, with some interesting aviation stories and a decent female lead growth storyline thrown in.

Sorry, yeah the fact that he can't get over his ex's death.

Lol judging from the previews I guess he would get it done 1 episode before the last one..

Preview thoughts: GAH looks like we have to wait until episode 38 for them to get together (I'm assuming after the flower scene?). LOL I cannot believe I basically watched 40 episodes, on top of the 10 years it already took him, for GNT to get over his ex gf.

Yes, at least in Canada where I'm from this is the case. However I am completely ignorant about Chinese law and I don't know much about international law either, so I'm not sure what the rules are around subpoenaing someone from another country?

so many ridiculous legal plotholes-incl. Gu's hearsay testimony, the lawyer being unprepared for the defense to…
Agreed! I'm no lawyer but I feel like these are the very, very basics that audiences would understand just from watching enough legal dramas or even watching the news..... I mean legal dramas aren't always accurate to begin with, but the writers didn't even try with this one haha.

Hahaha Jiang is secretly some evil chaebol but instead of running around terrorizing people's companies or hooking up with his secretary, he's out here trying to prevent women from being pilots.... man really has his priorities straight LOL. Yeah... I think the writers were trying not to make him so outright evil because they want to redeem him later, but they failed in the execution and now he's in this weird in-between where he's not evil enough for the plot to make sense, but not nice enough for his redemption to be convincing either.

Yeah I know that he didn't actually buy off the whole airport haha - it was just a hyperbole to emphasize how ridiculous it is that no one bothered to think about the millions of other people who could have witnessed that the airport runway was indeed never closed.

Totally agree with your second point. I was already annoyed yesterday with how all the characters seemed to be surprised on some level that she was suspended, when any rational person would expect going into all this to be fired at the end of the day; suspension is just a first step in that direction. And with a court case that seems unwinnable, it is even more irrational for CX to go testify anyway, effectively cementing the end of her career for pretty much no good reason. There are other ways to assuage your guilt towards the deceased's family without ruining your own life.
On Flight to You Jan 9, 2023
I get that it's not a legal drama... but the way this whole court case was handled is so ridiculous and unrealistic that I can't sympathize with the characters at all; they are literally creating problems for themselves that don't even exist. For ex., why is it GNT that is flying all over the world to convince these captains to witness? It should be the lawyer's job to do that as part of the legal proceedings of the case - in which case why would there be any opposition from their respective companies? The foreign airlines don't have any alliance with Jiang or reason not to comply. And as many people pointed out, you can submit late evidence to a trial that is ongoing.... especially one that is crucial to the decision of the case, such as Camille's testimony. There is absolutely no reason why her testimony was not presented in court.

And on a side note.... is Jiang, a captain in one random Chinese airline, so powerful that he can somehow buy-off the entirety of the Saigon airport? There are millions of people going in and out of an airport every day, including staff from all different departments, businesses in the airport, crews, guests. It seems ludicrous that there is literally no possible way to prove that an entire major airport wasn't closed for a specific period of time.

Silly question. Why do dramas let men carry women like that? Wouldn’t it be easier to carry them infront? Do…
I think the piggy back is realistic? It makes for a better distribution of weight when you're carrying an adult because you can use your back to support them too, as opposed to just your arms if you are carrying them in front. The princess carry though I've never seen anyone do in real life except as a joke haha, I think that just looks good for camera but I imagine it would be super heavy.

This is dramaland! She did take a chance for sure. But GnT will help save her probably in the next two episodes,…
Cdrama production timelines are pretty rushed and its a long drama, so maybe the script wasn't fully finished when they signed onto the drama and they also didn't know how it would end?

Yeah I feel like that middle section (between the plane rescue incident and this current case with the dead passenger) was a classic case of the "watering down" Cdrama disease, where the writers kind of just have the characters cycle in place in their conflicts to unnecessarily drag out the plot to sell more episodes. Generally I avoid contemporary Cdramas that are longer than 30 episodes b/c they tend to be watered down, but I wanted to watch for the actors - I guess I am proved right again so maybe I should stick to my guns in the future.

Thank you for your insightful response! "Confusing yet dramatic plothole" is a very good way to describe this whole arc haha. I thought I was missing something which is why I am so confused, but glad to know it isn't just me! I guess we are meant to just ignore the logic here and go along with the dramatic ride.

Haha I think a lot of the audience is now fantasizing what this drama would be like if we could rewrite it. I like what you described - if they just got the romance done earlier on and then the rest of the story showed their aviation adventures together, with GNT supporting CX on her path to becoming a mature pilot. The aviation parts of this story seem reasonably convincing and well done so that would've been such an interesting drama - a pity they chose to go this cliched "drama" route :(

They are seeking acknowledgement and an apology. The parents never wanted money. Even if LZ Airlines can’t be…
Thanks for the response! I wonder if it is even legally possible for them to get an apology though? Like if someone is found guilty of a crime, a court could rule that part of their sentence is to issue a public apology - but if he is legally not guilty, then how could the court force him to issue an apology? Though I expect that with the publicity this case will get, LZA is likely to issue an apology regardless at this point so maybe that was also part of the plan.

Ooh good point that he would probably end up being separately charged with tampering with the evidence, I didn't think about that part.

Hahaha I think I am disappointed because when I first got sucked in from the earlier episodes, I did not think that it would go down this typical "drama" route. But I agree, I watched initially because I am a huge fan of both actors (and the acting definitely didn't disappoint) and now I am too far invested and need to watch to the end so that we can finally see the sloooooooooooooow burn romance pay off!
On Flight to You Jan 9, 2023
Does anyone mind explaining what they are trying to achieve by suing LZ Airlines? It has been repeatedly emphasized that while it may look bad in public perception that Jiang made the "wrong" decision, he / LZ Airline would not have held any legal responsibility regardless of whether there was an option to divert to Saigon. He manipulated the recording to more "cleanly" escape any perceived responsibility, likely for the VP election, but even if CX's side can prove that he manipulated the evidence, Jiang / LZ Airlines still has no any legal fault. So what is the legal purpose of this court case?

what did I just watch !!!!! well you SUED YOUR OWN COMPANY !!! were you expecting them to clap for you of course…
LOL right. If you were essentially going to initiate a lawsuit against your own company (I get she is not the plaintiff, but she literally found the lawyer and asked him to sue the company for the plaintiff) and are stupid enough to straight up own it /make no attempt to hide that you are involved, I would assume you would be completely prepared to get fired. Not sure why anyone is even remotely surprised or attempting to fight her suspension. If I were them I would stop wasting time whining about the suspension and worry about finding the evidence to prove Jiang manipulated the recording.
