On The Great Flood Dec 21, 2025
Title The Great Flood Spoiler
Watching this film feels confusing, to say the least. The premise is actually interesting, but then the director decides to mash together sci-fi and a natural-disaster plot like it’s a random playlist on shuffle. Personally, The Great Flood would’ve worked way better as a drama series, especially since there are genuinely interesting AI ideas. The first 30 minutes are still manageable, but once you get closer to the end, it completely runs out of steam. So honestly, don’t be shocked if people tap out halfway through or come out disappointed because it did not deliver what it promised.

For me, the biggest problem is the director not standing firmly behind their own vision. The actors did what they were hired to do nothing more, nothing less. Which makes it even more frustrating, because Kim Da=mi and Park Hae-soo had so much potential here :< But let’s be real Korean Netflix films this year haven’t exactly been serving masterpieces either

In my opinion, to the haters trying to bring this drama down—even making multiple accounts just to lower its rating—you're just wasting your energy. This drama is written by a capable writer behind Parasite and A Shop for Killers and directed by the award-winning filmmaker of Bleak Night, which won prestigious awards like Grand Bell.

Ratings may drop, but quality will always shine through until the end. Everyone has the right to dislike a movie or drama because, at its core, film is open to many interpretations. But judging it based only on the first two episodes without giving it a chance until at least halfway through? That’s just weird.

Jisoo's acting has improved a lot compared to Snowdrop. She looks much more natural now. I also feel that Park Jeongmin and the other cast members are quite close to Jisoo on set, so the scenes between Youngjoo and the supporting characters don’t feel awkward or distant.
