I LOVE the novel. I am looking forward to Mo Xiang Tong Xiu outdoing all the other dramas with her amazing script for the drama adaptation (just like how she did for The Untamed)!
This was my first Filipino series, and I heard it was shot during the pandemic, so I wasn't sure how well the plot would turn out. But I binged all 8 released episodes today! I was so surprised to be so hooked to a drama that was mostly done through video-calling!
Editing in ep 12 was a bit rough. The transition between scenes wasn't smooth. There were also many plot holes…
I would have given it a 9.5 as well if not for the episode 12 plot holes. Why did they randomly show Weol-Ju reprimanding voice phishing scammers and then the next time we saw her she was in front of Yeomra-Daewang [God of Underworld] crying and asking to stay in the human world to settle grudges?
So I will explain how I understand things but I will not hide it : I am a bit confused too so it is more like…
It's true people are different depending on the memories they remember, meaning the Cinnabar has all of the soul's memories while Yeo-rin only has her current life's memories.
When they said Yeo-rin is the reincarnation of the Cinnabar, I thought that meant that Yeo-rin's soul was the Cinnabar. But they depicted Yeo-rin and the Cinnabar as two different people, with the Cinnabar making all the guys near her get creeped out and telling her to get away from Kang Bae (when Yeo-rin wanted to get near him).
Similarly, Kang Bae is supposed to be the reincarnation of Wol-Joo's son, with the soul of the Sacred Tree, but when he appeared at the end of the episode, it seemed he had memories of Wol-Joo's past, making the Sacred Tree's soul and Kang Bae seem like two different people. Once again, the story depicted the past reincarnation and the present reincarnation as different people, 2 different souls. I thought when they said someone was the reincarnation of someone, the soul is the same but the physical body is different. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
This drama is adapted from the novel of the same name; the novel was written by the same author who wrote Guardian! You can find the drama adaptation of Guardian's info on this site if you want to watch it :)
To be honest, I wasn't expecting much when I started this series- I thought it would be a bunch of zealous fangirls in their own world and Pan would take advantage of the situation to make Way Kim's. Although this was her intention at first, she discovered many things about herself and other people and grew as a character. The series is not just a crazy fangirl and her BFF wanting their favorite ship to sail, but it is about family, self-discovery, and relationships with friends. Pan has really grown as a character and I feel like a mother proud of her and wanting to protect her XD This is one of my favorite series now!
