Title Promoter
Jang Dong Yoon is expected to replace Park Ji Hoon.

The role of a boxer is not unfamiliar territory for him. A boxing enthusiast in real life, he participated in the 4th Namhansanseong Cup National Amateur Boxing Competition last year, where he earned one victory and was even selected as the tournament’s MVP. Through the drama, he is expected to demonstrate the athletic ability he already proved in competition.

Jang Dong Yoon also drew public attention back in 2015 while attending Hanyang University, when he subdued a convenience store robber and appeared on the news as the “handsome college student who caught a robber.” That incident ultimately led him into acting.

For the production team of Promoter, casting Jang Dong Yoon would be a major relief. Actor Park Ji Hoon had previously been offered the role, but after months of consideration, he ultimately declined the project, leaving the production in a difficult position. However, with a new lead actor now being considered, filming preparations are finally expected to move forward.

Kim In Sik, CEO of Nemo Media Group, announced on the 20th that the historical drama ‘Dae Jang Geum: Medical Woman Jang Geum’ (working title) is scheduled to officially begin production after October.

The series is planned as a 50-episode drama and serves as a follow-up project expanding the universe of Dae Jang Geum, which was widely loved both domestically and internationally after airing in 2003 and played a major role in the rise of the Korean Wave.

While the original series centered on royal cuisine and medicine, portraying the growth journey of a woman in the Joseon era, Medical Woman Jang Geum will focus more deeply on Jang Geum’s life as a female physician, her personal struggles, and her path toward becoming a true healer.

According to the production company, the drama will be produced in a pre-production format, and they are considering a simultaneous release through OTT platforms and terrestrial television broadcasting. The goal is to reach not only Korean viewers but also a broad international audience.
