I wonder which online platform this will be made available to stream on. Anyone know?Edit - I think I read somewhere…
Yes, I believe it's streaming on Viki internationally but nowhere in Korea (ironically. And the koreans aren't happy with this lol)

First twitter people now here everyone seems to hate LJW now but all enjoyed Sweet Home, he has more screen time…
I think it's becos his case belatedly blew up on twitter, like there was recently a tweet with a few million views about it. Maybe since there seems to be more awareness on SA in SK recently e.g. burning sun BBC documentary, it may have sparked the discussion. Despite sweet home already being after his scandal, the awareness wasn't as high when first season aired + some people just don't care as much for a non-romance, although that's logically invalid if you ask me.

But the word has been spreading like wildfire and accusations are thrown around maybe with not enough context. There's a comment below (from user Bored Lurker) that summarized the details of his case, most of them were lost on the international fans. Somehow Korean netizens in general have a different view of him. From what I've seen they mostly believe he was falsely accused/have forgotten about it, and his reputation there is pretty clean now. I don't really know the specifics tho.

I've seen at least 5 versions of this show's title. To My Harry, To My Haeri, Dear Hyeri, Dear Harry... Seriously, it's about time they decided on the official english name.

Idk if it's the non-existent world building or the directing, but I could only see actors acting their roles and not actual, fleshed out characters. I just couldn't bring myself to feel fully invested in the stories. It was kinda like watching a very long commercial...

I think the rape rumors wasn't out yet when he was cast in Sweet Home
He was actually accused of r4pe back in 2016, years before season 1 of sweet home even aired. But it seems his case only gained traction on twitter after he appeared in SH because he started getting more international attention, coupled with the recent awareness on SA in korea (BBC's burning sun documentary might have reignited this). That's why there's this odd discrepancy where Koreans are totally fine with him as they forgot about it or believe he was falsely accused back then, while international fans are strongly against his recent casting news.

Oh please name another series in Korea with as decent as ths monster apocalyptic story( only better one is parasyte…
Yeah, no hard feelings. I'm just so disappointed that I only truly like season 1 of this show.

Well, for me it became a generic monster show (comparing NOT just to korean shows but mainstream monster shows in general) because they ended up completely disregarding the most intriguing parts of the show, and threw in unimaginative monster designs (made with poor graphics) and less interesting plots. I respect your opinion but even for season 1, I preferred the webtoon. My biggest issue was that the character growth of the main character was much weaker -- the overarching plot of the webtoon was Hyunsu changing his attitude and growing mentally stronger. Preference on artstyle is subjective.

Firstly, I don't think seasons 2 and 3 are anywhere near decent. Second, why are you asking me to name other shows? I simply compared this to its source material, and it's pretty clear to me that it did not give it justice and stretched out the story with unnecessary and inferior plotlines. Other than parasyte and gyeongseong, this is pretty much the only high profile Korean monster show (that I know of at least), and while s1 was not bad and better than s1 of gyeongseong, s2 and s3 are near unwatchable by my standards.

I'm still amazed at how they took such a well made webtoon, shoe-horned some unnecessary characters, threw the premise to a side and turned it into a generic monster show with such a half-a55ed storyline 🤦‍♂️

No problem. I'll say 85-90? I'm not that sure about some of the more complicated vocabulary especially those police procedural terms/internet lingo stuff, and I shortened some of the online comments onscreen or just didn't translate them (because there's so many lmao). But the overall meaning should be fine.

Title Gyeongseong Creature Spoiler
From where I'm looking, most (if not all ) of the problems with this show stem from the weak script and/or direction.…
I realized I tend to agree with your analyses. Your second paragraph put into words my main issue that I couldn't quite put my finger on. Come to think of it, things like ML being able to walk around like nobody's business after openly killing a bunch of soldiers, were kinda funny. At that point I was already accustomed to the fact that most things weren't even making sense. It's not a well-crafted story at all.

Your point of it becoming a waiting game is also very true. Reveals were made too early and were already predictable enough before they were made. When the climax (confrontation between FL and her mom) finally happened, it didn't hit at all. I can forgive some of a show's faults when it manages to stimulate my emotions. After all, k-dramas specialize in tugging at viewers' heartstrings with the most nonsensical situations. But this one didn't do it, not even once. The show was overestimating itself. (Nice that you mentioned WHJ. I almost forgot he even appeared at all.)
On Gyeongseong Creature Jan 12, 2024
Finished it but didn't feel very invested throughout. Something about it felt insincere and unconvincing, like the writers didn't put their heart into it. I couldn't feel a connection with the 2 main characters. Their actions sometimes felt odd and didn't seem to align with their motivations (or lack thereof, for the ML). Their relationship was also built on such a weak foundation (he suddenly fell in love after meeting her like once, really?) that no amount of romantic shots/music could make it believable. I was even becoming more interested in Lady Maeda than the leads' romance, which wasn't a good sign, to say the least.

Apart from that, the action/thriller aspect also fell flat. Often characters would have long and slow conversations when they're in critical situations, almost as if they knew of their own plot armor. Did the makers not envision how it would disrupt the suspense to translate those scenes from the script to the screen? Because it didn't seem like they did. At some point you even stop feeling nervous for the main characters because you can tell they'll escape anyway.

And then in part 2, it was like logic was thrown out of the window and things were randomly happening for no good reason. The FL made erratic decisions that seemed out of character, just to put herself in danger I suppose? I didn't realize there was a season 2 to be released, so the questionable ending caught me off guard. I probably won't be tuning in though (unless there are very good reviews, I guess).

I did notice that in some comments here. I wonder why some people spend hours hate watching something they didn't like from the start. I like giving both praise and criticism to shows I watch, but when I like nothing about it, I'll just drop it and not come back.

Honestly I don't get the rage about this show. It is a fairly straight forward by-the-numbers seachange drama…
Is there a lot of rage for this show? Why do I get the impression that there isn't much buzz for it compared to My Demon (which I am personally not a fan of)? Granted it has a very hallmark plot, this one at least keeps me engaged and has more room for thinking imo. I agree with your analysis and I think the show has a lot of unexpectedly deep-rooted tensions and heavy subjects under its kind-of cheery tone. It's reaching a turning point, but I'm not sure how they will resolve all of these issues in just 4 episodes.

someone said it right in the comments few weeks back- this is a 40-50 eps family drama made into a 16 ep format…
Well, not really. Most long family dramas I've seen are much more over the top, usually involving toxic chaebol families (there is one here but it's a very small subplot) and siblings' rivalry over inheritance or a company, characters plotting to kill each other, long lost children, babies switched at birth etc. This show is much more subtle in comparison. The oldest sister's story is also an uncommon twist on the classic poor girl marries into chaebol family plot.
