Okay i cried a bit during the final eps. But I'm still a little confused
I believe that was Yiyong’s grandfather when he was younger. Those scenes mostly give insight as to how that smoke lady came around as she keeps him alive past that point (up until the end). As for why this happens, I’m pretty sure he was just a likely candidate for what she wanted to achieve (moving on/dying), and she simply kept him alive in the hopes he’d help her (that torch has been passed to Yiyong now). No news on season 2, but with such an cliffhanger revolving around the smoke lady, there’s perfect opportunity for continuation of the story!
