Mr. Gu made it very clear that he doesn't want to be mixed up in 2 different worlds. In ep 12, he said this to Mi Jung after she says that they should meet up every month or so, "I want to leave a clear-cut life. [...] This world is this world, and that world is that world."
There are 2 versions of Mr. Gu and both are on either end of the spectrum. There's the notorious Mr. Gu and there's also the quiet carpenter Mr. Gu. Both are so different that he wants to the either or. He doesn't want the 2 versions of himself to overlap in any way whatsoever. Either he's the broken, depressed and hopeless Mr. Gu or either he's the Mr. Gu that's being worshipped by Mi Jung. He's so terrified of being loved that he'd rather go back to what's familiar to him and that's pain.
That subject is also adressed my Mi Jung in episode 10. She says this, “You were ready to let a dog bite off your arm. And yet, you find it hard to hold a woman? You think it’s cool to endure pain with clenched teeth, and it’s dull to have a cute happy life with a woman?”

I personally don't find Tae Hoon's daughter annoying, I guess I just find her reclusive at most. To me, she doesn't look like a bad kid, just a hurt kid who's carrying the weight of the world on her shoulders. I think that it's difficult for parents to give their best when they are also hurting.
The same thing that's bringing Tae Hoon's kid down which involves her parents' divorce, the fact that her mother has built an entirely new and different life for herself are probably things that are also bringing Tae Hoon down. He's not a perfect parent, but he truly is trying his best.
As for the aunties, we haven't been shown much on how they help raise the kid, but from what I've seen, they try to give her all the love that they didn't receive from their own aunties. And I can also tell that they're trying their very best to protect her at all cost. I mean look at the youngest auntie and how she was fuming at the fact that the words pronounced by Gi Jeong hurt her niece.
Overall this isn't the best parenting I've seen, but it's most definitely not the worst I've seen either.

But also I think that this is meant to show us how Min Jong is flawed. She's not perfect, she's had enough, and now she wants to distance herself from the fragile little girl who let everyone step on her.
I think that this is the reason why she's allowing herself to become bold. Since boldness is not necessarily a part of her character, she approaches Mr. Gu in an aloof, almost extreme way.
