I absolutely agree! It did feel random and I had to deduct quite a few points because of that. I felt like that whole arc did not match the Sakiko we had come to know.

Idol drama or not, the show has its issues, and I have decided to highlight them. I love exchanging ideas and have no issue discussing or defending my views in a respectful way. Obviously, if I'm putting my opinion out there, I am more than capable of handling the pushback. Agreeing or disagreeing, that is not the issue. Exchanging respectfully, that is what matters.

yeah, I'm fighting for my life in these comments lmaooo 🤣🤣 for the dress thing I was speaking in regards to her personality and how she is a go-getter so it would have been nice to see her personality in the way she dresses. Kind of like Tina who's personality + background is displayed in her dressing.

Funny. This is the first time I've mentioned this issue at all.

"He's teaching her how to navigate office politics and read people" except, his advice is quite shallow.

"the smart psychological game of corporate life" is not some sort of textbook that only he has access to. Many of her superiors are very experienced and could help her navigate the etiquette for networking and whatnot. My point here is not to demonize Xin Zhin. I'm only saying that the plot would have been much richer (and much more realistic) if she had built rapport with her superiors and relied on them more.

Her trusting him is no issue, but the reality is that if we're talking about backstabbing, wouldn't he be the perfect candidate to do so? Obviously she trusts him because his initial advice he gave after the interview helped her get situated in her new career. That advice was pure gold, I'll give him that.

But Xu Chi does not use the resources at her disposal. Networking is important but it's not all her job consists of. This is why I mentioned the fact that she can't even share information on her contracts with him because it would be a breach of confidentiality and meanwhile, it is the majority of the work she does. So in that case, who is more fitting to ask advice to? Her department's superiors + peers.

Did I insult the writers and crew? Did I say they were incapable and should jump off a bridge? No. I only criticized the plot and writing. The structure of it feels off to me and I commented on that.

"At the end you said there's nothing memorial or impact about their interactions. Are you sure about that?" Disagreeing with my take is more than okay and I would love to discuss but coming out the way you did was disrespectful. If this drama touched you, then great! But it doesn't disqualify it from criticism.

So my advice to you is to grow thicker skin. Many are going to hate what you like and you are going to hate what many like but that's fine. It's all a part of the human experience. But if someone expresses their thoughts respectfully, there's absolutely no need to be condescending or passive aggressive. You disagree with a take? That's fine. Either you discuss respectfully or you scroll along. It's really not hard to do.

I honestly don't think you read a word of it. If you had, you might have come out more respectful and less passive aggressive. The essay you are talking about is a bunch of points raised to think more on this creative piece. This is something cultured people do to heighten their intellectual prowess. Try it sometime xX

Well, I find this show incredibly disappointing. First with the mentor/mentee trope... I genuinely wonder why the FL even trusts the ML so much when his advice is generic, pretentious and only seems to work due to plot armour. The first mistake was to make it so that these two would not work for the same company. Because they are in similar fields but not the same company, the FL sharing anything related to her contracts and deals would be a breach of confidentiality. So essentially he can only help in things like social networking, what to wear, what not to wear, dealing with rumours and all these trivial things that the FL could learn through experience or through her colleagues (or even both). Heck, Tina could give her better advice than Xin Zhi.

Because of this, I have a hard time understanding the need for their proximity. Xu Chi would get a lot more bang for her buck if she approached her superior at work instead which in turn would create a strong bond between the two as well as a sort of sismance (which of course would enrich the plot).

Currently, however, we are encouraged to think that things are because that's how the Xin Zhi says they are. But what is it that Xin Zhi knows that others wouldn't? Or that isn't common sense?

In one of today's episodes for example, he tells her that for this specific type of event that the two are attending, it's important not to do too much or else you'll look like you have something to prove (or something along those lines, Idk). Meanwhile, Xu Chi is dressed like she's about to clean a rich man's entire estate while the other attendees are dressed like they're attending a gala. This means that Xu Chi is actually the worst dressed. Xu Chi who is obviously enamoured by this powerful and witty man takes his word for it, rather than taking a look around using her eyes to see what is true and what isn't... (btw this man is saying all of this while wearing a proper suit).

And also, we have Xu Chi an arrogant and disillusioned little girl who wants to make it but refuses to take advice from those who actually have pertinent advice to give... Wonderful!

So sure, let's say she truly is this ambitious woman who works hard and believes that nothing can stop her... Why the hell doesn't she dress like it then?! Why on God's green earth does she still dress like a TWEEN???

I guess my critique is that the writers are not giving what they think they're giving.

There's also nothing impactful or memorable about any of their interactions. There's nothing that stays with you, nothing that makes you look forward to their next interaction. So in turn I genuinely do not care for them.

Exactly!! It defeats the entire purpose of having said mentor. I would have bought it had they made her a quick learner. But having her handling things by herself and exceeding at them without receiving help is overkill.
