You guys realize that Naoki has classic Asperger syndrome, right?
My own daughter has this condition and i can relate to his behavior. I don't think he should be on this list at all.
Five of his behaviors and how they relate to real life Aspergers:
1. High IQ, but low EQ (emotional). We are told over and over how he is a genius. It is shown on the show how he loses himself in work/study, sometimes leaving Kotoko at home by herself for days. Aspies don't realize that their loved one might think they are being ignored.
2. Naoki is not very affectionate to Kotoko. Aspies don't understand this constant need. They think that saying i love you once if enough. Why keep saying it if the other person knows?
3. The reason he pushes Kotoko away is because aspies don't like to be touched unless they are expecting it, especially on the face. Kotoko is very clingy (not a bad thing!) He is happy to touch her when he is ready. This may sound bad to average folk, but their brain is wired differently.
4. Aspies are also attracted to people with qualities they themselves lack. Kotoko fills the void he lacks, that is why he loves and needs her. She also realizes this as she constantly says she needs to be there for him.
5. At one point Naoki becomes extremely angry and irritated with Kotoko. He doesn't know why until someone tells him he is jealous. Aspies recognition of their own emotions are lacking.
I hope one day my daughter will grow up to meet a male version of Kotoko, who will help and understand her.
