When ever I encounter an amnesia in a kdrama I just got pissed off. That's totally cliche and I hate that so much.
In the legend of the blue see I love both mains but after amnesia thing I couldn't relate to story as I wanted and the worst was that it happened all around mermaid occasionally as one of the main elements.... and it become even worse by remembering after a while that's a real pain.
I've watched some Jdramas but I couldn't get connected with the acting and culture and story and especially musics. I think maybe the point is that Kdramas are more understandable from the point of my culture and language. For example I can sense the feelings of characters of Kdramas by just watching them and hearing their speaking but not reading a subs even if I can't understand what they are talking about, but in J or T or CH dramas I can't. And I think the main problem I have with them is that ...
It is so beautiful but at the ending I felt that the writers just wanted to finish the story ..
I didn't like the ending scenes much (I liked the ending plot bot not details). Many shots could be better and at the end I felt the main characters are preaching about love and life but not acting ...
But I gave it 10 because I enjoyed the drama at all moments and it is one memorable KDs I've watched recently.

I agree with you about all story tips you mentioned... but exactly I liked this drama because of them... You should do more research about the history of Mongols and see what they have done in their time. If it was a thing that you wanted .... (a complete reasonable persons with a very precise personalities and characteristics then they wouldn't be human but angels and demons). Perfect decisions means solid story line and I liked that Nyang has so many characters. The emperor was the must realistic character of this drama (from my viewpoint) that he never grow up and the blood of his bloodthirsty grandfathers (like Genghis Khan) with the weak mind and heart of a abandoned coward boy that just have one goal that is to stay alive but fell in filthy love (I mean the love that you sacrifice everything even your love to own the partner at any cost) of a loyal in love girl that is prepare and capable to do anything to have her.
The Nyang on other hand is a loyal in love girl with the Wang Yoo but sacrifice herself for the sake of her love and her country and people but in the time because of her great misses (his son, friends ...) her heart waves like many other peoples.
Wang Yoo on other hand is a king in love with a girl that can not have her but do anything to protect her. Even sacrificing himself for Nyang to show Emperor that if he want to be a lover of Nyang, he should do anything even giving up on his life. I think that the act of Wang Yoo was for protecting her love by showing the real meaning of love to a man that could protect Nyang by his love and if was a really amazing and wonderful TRICK that Wang Yoo used as his last must do things to protect his love Nyang.
I can reason this story more but I think that you have my point already.
I've just finished this drama half and hour ago and I'm still thinking and finding many interesting things about this movie......

Sungnyang is always in the palace these days and I'm getting kinda tired of seeing her acting weak I want to see…
If you are watching this just for action, do not bother yourself anymore. but if you want to watch a masterpiece with lots of emotions, feelings, incredible situations, heart beating moments, .... and finally a very memorable ending, continue to the end....
I don't like stories of Illegitimate child, and I don't know why there is so many korean dramas about them (like heirs and this) I don't like the concept of betrayal and unfortunately I think these dramas try to show this as an ordinary fact.
But I enjoyed the atmosphere of the drama...
Finally I've seen this after months and I'm not regret it.
This is a good drama and worth watching one time but for second time I won't cause the main fetching parameter of this drama is curiosity for knowing the end of the story, so if you know it then it will not be as enjoyable as it should.
It will get even funnier if you watch a movie with a sub in your language that is translated from the English subs that have many problems themselves. So sometimes I can not even understand the relation between sentences and have to find some Eng subs.
The language is a very complicated thing. It relates to cultures and depend on many things (even the weather of that region if you ask).
So we have to be patient and just watch dramas and have fun with what we can have.
