I dropped it because I just couldn't get into it. Then I think I watched some episode here and there when a friend of mine was watching it. I still didn't like it.

Omg you so me there, I was not okay with the subbtle nod there. But I think it's because a lot Asian trope still goes toward the you need to marry the one that you do it with. So they are trying to make it okay for us to ship them or something. Actually I wanted to see more things happening to Xuelo and that dude seriously got off easy. And also the Gu family nothing ever happened to them, even though NX gramps came in force to take her away. I kinda hope her family should have given the Gu and LTX parents even more grief after all they put NX too.
