Title Friendly Rivalry
People can enjoy a show for different reasons...Some focus on the story, others on the performances, and yes,…
So let me get this straight—people obsessing over actors in hetero media is just “normal fandom behavior,” but when it happens with BL or GL, it’s suddenly a problem? Fans overrate and hype up all kinds of shows, regardless of genre, and acting like this is exclusive to queer content just exposes the double standard. If your issue is with fandom culture in general, fine, but let’s not pretend people don’t lose their minds over straight couples too—you just don’t notice because it’s so normalized. Lovely Runner is hardly the first “mediocre” show to get overrated because of attractive leads, but if it were a straight romance, you wouldn’t be writing essays about “fetishization.” Maybe the real issue isn’t that people are excited—it’s that you’re uncomfortable with queer content getting the same attention.
