I need these two to be in another drama together!! I wanted to love this so bad! *cries*

This should've been the perfect drama for me: beautiful leads in a fantasy-thriller. What more could I have asked for?!

Watching this reminded me of Rattan (which I liked) or even I am Nobody (which I really liked), but the romance wasn't executed as well as the former and the fantasy wasn't executed as well as the latter. Personally, I think it's on the writing/directing. The romance was on par with the average Chinese idol drama which is such a waste on Dilraba Dilmurat and Chen Xing Xu! I loved seeing Dilraba Dilmurat being a badass, but I don't trust these scripts! I'll settle for a well thought out romance for these two next time. PLEASE.

I NEED SEASON TWO NOW

I don't know why I waited so long to watch this!! I think I thought it was going to be one of those unpolished and poorly written web series quality type of show, BUT IT WAS SURPRISINGLY EXACTLY MY STYLE! Each character is so uniquely funny. Each person has their own backstory and there is a more serious plot, but it doesn't take away from the comedy at all. I can't believe there is no new of season two!!!! I need 100 more episodes of this adorable bunch!!

Same old Chinese historical romance template

Underwhelmed. Liu Xue Yi's acting is solid as always, but the female lead couldn't keep up. The story is nothing new.

I think the most interesting romance was between the king and the princess. I cannot stand their age-gap, but their acting really sold their love for one another. The female actress brought out the princess's natural youthful naivety. The emperor's romance arc was written and acted out well. The actor was able to convey the character's care and concern for the princess outside of her beauty and how seamlessly it developed into the deep love they eventually have for each other.

Silly drama

If you've watched enough Taiwanese comedies, then you'll understand this drama's very unserious and nonsensical ways. If you're not familiar, then I think you can get the vibes just from watching the opening. It's my favorite drama opening in a long time; the song is good too. The writing is not polished, but it's easy to watch. If you're just looking for nonsense to pass the time, this will do.

Solid Drama

If you're looking for a light-comedy with a sense of justice, this should do the job.

Jung Kyung Ho is a consistent and reliable actor as always. The rest of the main cast is also great. They managed to be comedic in a natural way that made sense for their characters.

The plot is solid. I thought they might've leaned into the fantasy aspect in the end, but I liked that they didn't complicate it too much in that aspect. The fantasy is just the premise, and the core of the drama is still about labor issues which I appreciated.

The music is so good

Pretty much what you can expect from a school drama adapted from a webtoon. OP main character. Rag tag team of students who grow to trust one another. Teacher who doesn't give up on her students. Although I felt like the teacher's role was a little weak. But if you want to watch an unstoppable main character who rids the school of its oppressor, this is an easy to watch option.

Pretty interesting law drama

In the first case, there is a scene where the perspective cuts back and forth between two separate conversations, our two lead lawyers are speaking to their respective clients. The use of that scene and their dialogues to confuse viewers really grabbed me. A lot of law dramas are pretty clear about who the victims are and who the viewers should condemn. It's refreshing to feel this torn over a case (especially one that would usually be dramatized). Otherwise, most of the other cases are pretty standard law drama stuff. The acting is good. I personally love Tang Ying Ying, and Lin Xiao Yun's character developed in an interesting way. I wasn't into the male lead, but the chemistry between the two leads was good.

It's fine

The best part of this show is the humor in the interactions between the three leads. Qin Ming initially doesn't welcome the newcome, Da Bao. But with every case, the three leads learn to trust in one another. Although they bicker, they get the job done.

Otherwise, the show is pretty outdated. It reminds me of TVB some crime shows: the ones that are easy to watch, but you probably shouldn't analyze it too much.

Has nothing to do with Marry My Dead Body

This kind of feels like if "Brooklyn 99" in the style of "The Office" in that it's super silly. It'd help to suspend your disbelief to enjoy this show. It would also be helpful to understand enough Chinese to understand the idioms and wordplay. If you're looking for something similar to "Marry My Dead Body," look elsewhere.

Yang Yang did a good job

This was very uniquely shot. The special effects weren't bad. The action scenes were quite elaborate which adds weight to the fighting. For the first time, I can actually feel how long and tedious(?) the journey to immortality/ spiritual cultivation is.

I wish we saw more of the Demon Sects. I love hearing their dialects. I couldn't stand how all these women kept falling in love with Han Li, especially Nan Gong Wan. Alas, this is a male-oriented story.

Not as addicting as the first season

The casting director is a genius! I especially loved the casting for Wang Zhen Qiu. The recast of Zhu Ge Qing is definitely disappointing, but I'll survive. I never read the manhua, so I didn't really understand his romance storyline. Felt out of place.

The story felt much slower than the first season. I rewatched the first season before watching this one, and I was just as invested the second time around. I also think the portrayal of Zhang Chu Lan's cunning side could've used more work.

I like knowing that they're happily together in real life lol

I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS ENDING. YeQing's mom drove me crazy; I wanted to smack her so bad. Like I get it, but she caused so much trouble for everyone. I'm not even sure why I was hooked lol Maybe because they're a real-life couple? idk

The pacing is slower than modern dramas which is normal for this era. But I think the writing is pretty solid. The characters and plot are well-grounded and cohesive. Acting is solid, I never felt taken out of the drama (although I couldn't stop thinking about what filming this was like for them as a real couple).

Wasn't a perfect drama, but very well done

A lot of the male actors couldn't really hold their own alongside their female counterparts. Some of the lines were a bit stiff and unnatural. But otherwise, I think the drama did a good job portraying different perspectives when it comes to this topic. They also did a good job of keeping the story to what was important rather than making it longer than it needed to be. I didn't feel a lull anywhere and always wanted to keep watching. Although I think the writing/pacing for Qin Nan's storyline was interesting.

Light-hearted and Easy-To-Watch Legal Drama

Jung Kyung Ho is great. He mixes comedy into his acting very comfortably. However, the rest of the Pro Bono team was a bit theatrical for me. I might just have watched too many Kdramas and am getting tired of this style of comedic acting. Otherwise, a light-hearted, easy-to-watch law drama. You can feel the sincerity through each actor's portrayal and the cases.

Collectivism Propaganda Rooted in Women Writing Off Their Needs

The show portrays the complexities of being a parent. "All adults make selfish decisions, but that's because they'll do anything for their child." The writers threw everything they could at our main characters to make their lives so difficult that we can't help but acquiesce to the characters' actions.

The show was shot well. There were scenes that were very well performed. These are all characters you might know in real life. But I think the story lost itself in its collectivism propaganda. Ultimately, for a show titled (direct Chinese translation) "Beloved Child/ren", I didn't leave with "Wow, they really love their children," but with "Wow, all these freaking idiot men creating problems for the women in their lives and the women are just supposed to forgive and let go, unless the women plan to divorce these men."

I watched this show for the scene where Fang YiNuo and Xiao Luo meet up to divide their assets. I am leaving disappointed, but I think the actors did the best they could. I think there is value in a story about making sacrifices for your family and putting your own needs aside for the people you care about, but this show overdid it. Too dramatic.
