So I wanted to watch this when it came out, but the ratings were low, and I had exams. But I binged it last night, and I'm on episode 8. The rating is slow, low for a good show; it should be an 8.4-8.5 show.
Okay so I really like the cinematography, Music, and Acting (Except the LC daughter, she doesn't know what she's doing) I see alot of people having issues with the body swapping, I don't mind it, it gives them both a feel of what they've both been through especially with the crown prince, the trauma he feels is not just mentally but stored in his body as well, I think Dal can empathize with him and when she gets her memory back she will feel for him.
I also like that although she caught his attention because she has his wife's face, he still loves Dal for Dal and is not looking for the CP in her.
My biggest surprise is the Male lead's acting, he's so incredible, He's a great actor, plus he's hot. Plus, his personality and vibe work for this show. The female lead is incredible as well, but I'm more surprised by him.
I LOVE THE SECOND ML as well, He sort of looks like Byeon Woo Seok. Give him a lead role next please
What I don't like, though, is this battle with the Left State Counsellor. It's pissing me off. These kdramas always have Kings scared of them, and it's always the same thing. Like, why does he even have so much power? Just shoot the guy and kill him, they should have left that out or found a clever way to incorporate it because this guy just does what he wants.
Just curious what about the plot didn't you like? Just want to see your perspective
Okay I get what you mean as well, The court maids as fairies didn't make sense to me too, this could've been a longer show to explain everything because it has the bones to be longer.
In terms of San and his grandfather, their relationship makes sense they just don't show why in the show, I had to look for it myself. This show is based on real life people and San's father went mad and would kill and rape people so his father had to kill him (the only king in history that has killed his child i believe) So the king fears that San might be mad as well, so he has a huge reaction whenever san does anything but he loves him in a weird way. There was a scene where they thought he was going to a brothel and they put him under house arrest, it all boils down to his father. His grandfather still kept San's dignity tho.
In terms of San's reactions about being possessive, It makes a lot of sense to me, He's a CP and future King, everything is said to belong to him and then Deok Im defies him constantly, if he didn't have that reaction i would be suprised because emperors/Kings have some arrogance. So he does struggle with that because he has his pride too.
I felt like the story wasn't cohesive and they wanted to make Deok Im very progressive but progressive towards what? what else can she have aside from being his wife, she has no family and no way of leaving the palace. She was meant to be killed but she survived so she has to stay in the palace or wherever they want her to go etc
I watch alot of historical dramas and Deok Ims life wasn't that bad, they just wanted to make her depressed
Very Random, but do you make edits on TikTok? I feel like you do. Girl you will never go back after historical…
Okay lol, I thought you were someone else, for romance, All these are romance but some have more politics than others, you can check them out on MDL and see. ratings that are low don't aren't always true so watch out for that. Happy Watching!
ADWAD's reception in China surprised me a lot, they love this show on XHS, makes me feel like i'm missing something from the plot lol. I like the show too don't get me wrong.
My first historical cdrama ... very amazing . Didn't know historical cdrama is this interesting. please I need…
Very Random, but do you make edits on TikTok? I feel like you do. Girl you will never go back after historical chinese dramas, what do you usually like, tropes and stuff so i suggest what to start with. Are you more into romance, complicated characters and storylines etc?

its really weird how people only accept a story as good when the ending is happy. yes, the ending is not happy.…
Yes I hate that everyone wants happy endings and green flag male leads, no one leaves room for complicated characters and stories anymore lol. They would HATE chinese dramas
This is one of my favourite shows but after watching it so many times, so many things didn't add up.She said she…
I don't think he was strict tbh, there was only one scene where I felt he was, the scene where she lost her child and he told her to get over it because the people are suffering too.
When she was pregnant and the King went to the Queen I didn't see it as a big deal, she knows he loves her more than anyone, he did it as protocol because the Queen cannot have children herself, she was raised in the palace so she should know these rules by now.
You know I feel this show mixed modern things and historical because Deok Im's dad was killed and her whole family was meant to be killed as well but she survived so she will never be free from the palace. In a Harem the king is not always with you so she can hang out with her friends, not as acre free as before but she can plus there are other women in the Harem as well, he has political and family duties to attend to. Plus she has no family (except her brother) so she's sort of always alone tbh.
In terms of Love, she was in love with him but unfortunately she's in love with a king which makes the situation more complex, the king belongs to the people first.
The show wanted to make her character that way, there are so many ways around the issues they caused for her imo and they wanted a tragic ending.
This show got me into kdramas plus I love the OST, I will never forget this show. I love that you love the show as well :)
I love historicals, but it annoys me when they depict a weak king who allows a single minister to rule the entire…
I'm curious, do you watch chinese historical dramas? if not I can recommend a couple because the Kings there do not play. Whilst historical Kdramas the King is just a pawn for other people
So I saw a clip of this show on TikTok, specifically a doctor treating a general and the actor who plays the general, Zhu Ya Wen, is so insane! I watched him in the Drama "Ming Dynasty." One of the best performances I've personally watched in a Cdrama, he embodied the grand vibe of an emperor; he was very commanding. I'm excited to watch this now, even though he just makes an appearance
Another thing I love about the Male lead is that being rich isn't his entire personality, he actually has one, and we didn't find out he was a cheabol till later on. H e has more going for him + Personality than being rich
coming here after so long bc I'm realising that perhaps, she didn't love yi san at all or all that much, and didn't…
This is one of my favourite shows but after watching it so many times, so many things didn't add up.
She said she wanted him for herself which doesn't make sense, he's a king and has to form alliances through marriage, she cannot give him anything politically.
I don't get what the fuss was about when he loved only her, he showed her so why did she feel like she was sharing his love with other people, a Harem is normal of the working class talk less of a King.
This show being a tragedy was just the writers because it really didn't need to be.
I get he was arrogant but he's a King, If he wasn't I would be so suprised lol.
I would say she loved him, and he gave her a chance to leave so not really about palace politics imo. I really never understood what she truly wanted tho
I think I was the only one who didn't know this man was a red flag at all; the characters were just complicated as well as the systems they were in. And the ending, I wish they reunited in the present day, I heard he planted 10,000 trees for her, and it's now a park, they could've met there in the present day, just a glance and it ends.
i feel like it's been such a weak year for romcoms and this is saving it, it's so much fun!!!!! i'm surprised…
Yes, and tbh I can justify why he threw it in the pool, he had this amazing time with this girl now he finds out she's married with a kid, possibly turning him into a home wrecker, now she's acting like what she did wasn't a big deal, (we empathize with her because we see the other side but he doesn't)
There are also hints that his dad, whom he hates, cheated on his mum, putting her in the position she is now; his dad is forcing him to work; his sister is a witch, and there's a woman gaslighting him. This man is STRESSED.
Not saying Darim isn't going through it too, but he doesn't see any of that.
We have a great show in our hands, so let's not ruin this, please. We really need to do better at unpacking these characters and understanding both sides if not , KDramas are going to lose Quality if they only give us loser male green flag leads. And then people complaining why she doesn't just tell him the truth, let's bffr rn please
ALSO, DID WE FORGET THE BUSINESS PROPOSAL WHEN HE MADE HER DO SO MUCH WORK AND WORKED HER TO THE BONE? I don't remember anyone complaining then
This is why we don't get good things, so much discourse over the ML or FL, this is also why we don't get complicated characters (not saying these are) because people don't want to understand both sides and why they do what they do. I don't really watch K-drama thrillers, so aside from them, I've noticed a lack of complicated male characters these days; everyone just wants a green flag ML, with no faults, like the perfect robot man with no human emotions, or reaction to things that hurt them.
