If people want to watch a sweet romance BL, then there is GMM for that and plenty of Indie productions. No need to stalk this drama trash talking its existence.
There are actual gaysians that this will appeal to especially ones coming from similar backgrounds -- overbearing traditional, conservation Thai-Chinese. Those who actually enjoy watching Thai dramas outside of BLs, GMM or their BL actor/character in it. While it would be nice to see a happy ending for the gay character, I don't see anything wrong if the story is gonna have a sad ending if it makes sense for the story. If you've ever seen straight Thai-Chinese dramas, it kinda goes that way. And we're actually getting a gay male character which is a first for these types of stories. So it's nice to see a gay male character in something different other than the usual recycled BL stories.

Why isn't it a BL role? In order for it to be classified as a BL role, the gay character has to be in a story about a sweet romance? A BL role is a gay male character, isn't it? The story can be happy or sad.
There are the two where Toyy played gay, and yes, he was an oppressed gay male character. I didn't watch either of them. Not my type of stories, and I don't know why they have typecasted the guy into such roles. I hardly would call two dramas with the same actor a track record. ONE also has Beauty and The Bitches where the lesbian couple and transgender character got happy endings. Their storylines were extremely well done for its time.
So I'd disagree that One31 has a record of being anti-LGBT.
I'm considering watching this because of the storyline. I understand people want to see happy endings but because a story may have a sad ending, that doesn't make the channel homophobic. This is a story about a gay character. in a homophobic time. in a conservative Thai Chinese family. Which even in present time, actual gay people in these types of families do have it rough.

In the beginning, Aom and Film are acting out a scene. Aom is acting out the mom who in the story is super homophobic. And Film is the son who steers towards being feminine gay. Feminine gays DO exist but don't sell in BLs because at the end of the day, BLs are targeted towards straight women. Actual gay males are just lucky that straight women like BLs. So you're not going to see a lot of them as leads.
Film's character likes makeup and dressing up but has to appear and dress like a conventional male. If it was possible in his character's time, he may even lean towards being trans. Like he appears to like conventional feminine things. Even as an inter fan, you can tell this because she keeps calling Film by his character name.
As for them saying they're shocked, as a gay person, even I was shocked when I saw the trailer. Up until now, A-list actors like Film would not be cast in a BL role. It has usually been nobodies like Bright/Win who get into BLs because why not, they don't have anything to lose (they're not getting anywhere in straight roles) and BL is selling. It wasn't until the success of 2gether that we're getting A-list actors like Nanon playing gay. And now Film. So yes, I'm shocked. These people are also shocked. What's the fuss?
Then in that other clip, Film is playing a scene again where he is hitting on someone. So he goes to hit on Tre, and Tre is like "I'm your nong". It wasn't done in a threatening manner at all. No one was disgusted (do people need glasses?) and they seem to just be messing around. If you hear a lot of cussing in Thai, it's mostly a term of endearment. Like saying "hey bitch" to a friend. You wouldn't say that to a stranger but you would with a close friend that you have that kind of rapport with.
And for the record, I'm not any of these people's stans. I don't even watch their stuff. I just don't like it when inter people don't understand things and then make up the rest in a negative light. Fine if you're right. But downright irritating when you're wrong.
