Falling short of expectations

Minor spoilers ahead

I am a huge fan of Ossan's Love, whether it comes from Japan, HK, new, old, love it. Sadly the Thai version falls short.

Acting-wise it's not what we'd expect from this product. Earth's trying to break with the serious mature characters he usually portrays, and it kind of works. Mix doesn't do well comedies, sadly. Rctor playing the Boss is not reaching hights either. The supporting cast is poorly written. While distinctive in the original or other spin-offs, here they're barely a background for everything that is happening. You get your regular Thai shouting trying to look funny, but it looks ludicrous to a non-Thai viewer.

When it comes to the beginning is extremely weak, it gets better later on but it still doesn't deliver, and it's nothing revolting. Getting rid of the exwife trope and replacing it with a daughter is a weak move, perhaps the writers didn't want to dispute the sancticity of the marriage institution, but it was poorly resolved. The story is so funny, no matter which version I watched in the past, it seemed funny and refreshing. Unfortunately the Thai creators cannot find the rythm nor the right balance between funny and serious.

Music is just your regular Epidemic stock music with a few original songs so nothing memorable. GMM TV have been so cheap these days when it comes to music.

Will I rewatch it? No. Should you watch it? If you love EarthMix, give it a try.
