Maybe try 2 more? I had the same opinion during those first few episodes but things really picked up around episode 5/6 when they actually ended up with a proper case in their hands and not just focusing on the bickering between the two sides. Once the old squad was properly 'reunited' I feel like things got insanely better because I also wasn't feeling the new characters at all (still don't care much about them). I do agree with you on the magic of the first season – it took them about 10 episodes here to actually give us that spark back, not sure why.
