Mr.Zhuomo the talkative guy doesn't really mind DJ being like this to him but I feel like he is enjoying it more. Father son relationship in wuxia drama is always like this. The son is pampered by the mother and isn't really on good terms with dad. Just some classic wuxia family thing. Xiao Roufeng the ninth prince doesn't mind DJ behavior cus he knows DJ is inexperienced and has always been casual and carefree. Everyone didn't exactly give him a free pass, he was invited into the academy because he is the sole heir to western chu song, he got accepted into the academy using his wine brewing skill. He lacks manners because he haven't really left his home where he's being pampered and spoiled by his grandfather. He was slightly rude to his future master because he attacked him out of nowhere and even knock him out.

I won't disagree with that but DJ is like a combo of Lei Mengsha (given how eloquent he is with his words and how he acted) and a character who's way too carefree (from another drama I forgot the name). Like LMS and his grandpa said, he's not experienced and haven't seen how cruel the martial world actually is and given the childhood trauma of losing his bestfriend (Ye Yun), him becoming bratty and no longer care about the world or what people think of him is actually reasonable. He witnessed the death of his master and has seen how the martial world is so he now knows what position he's in. He know he couldn't stay or be in Qiandong city any longer or he'll put his family at risk.

As for the wine, as a brewer myself I wanna laugh so bad. My family has this one 180 years old family recipe and it's been passing down from generation to generation and my family always have it during feast and festival. These wine and liquor has long existed even before we or thechinese movies/dramas come to existence.

I don't think he was disrespectful to strangers? He's a tavern owner and all he wanted was customers to try his liquor. He was disrespectful to his dad prob because of what happens to the Ye family when he was a child and his dad did nothing and we knows he's pampered. but we also knows that's just how father and son relationship is like in wuxia drama. He didn't look down on everyone, because had he look down on people, why did he befriend Sikong Changfeng, a nameless traveler and even asked his uncle to save him? He didn't run away and leave Sikong Changfeng alone when he asked him to and even help a person like Yan Luoli even though she's a person who's so full of herself. He's a carefree person, a carefree person usually lacks manners and doesn't seems respectful and to be fair he was rude to his future master and other people but he deeply respect the Scholarly Deity who was his master and the elders. He's eloquent, carefree and just doesn't have manners

I am a liquor brewer myself (I used Hawthorns or wild grapes and fermented it) and every time these people mention how DJ is a spoil brat who knows nothing but liquor kind of make my blood boil. And I agree, drunken martial art fights is the best tbh cus y'know the character's power is at max. I ain't complaining as long as da fight is satisfying to watch

I mean I felt bad he killed her but not anymore like Miss Gurl plotted against him and also trying to kill DJ knowing he knows the most powerful sword technique and have the most advanced poison user as his uncle and a giant serpent protecting him and a literal spear deity as his bestfriend is the dumbest decision yet xD

He literally open a tavern on his own, has a sense of fairness, carefree and just wanna be a famous liquor brewer to fulfill his promise to his childhood's bestfriend. He's just protected after all he's the young master of the most prestigious family after the royal family xD. Also in ancient china alcoholic liquor are made from berries, especially wild grapes or herbs, rice, honey and hawthorns. These are more healthy than the current alcoholic drink we have nowadays. It's no harm drinking those if you manage ur intake. Plus we knows Liquor are part of wuxia. Have you seen a wuxia, xuanhuan or xianxia drama without mentioning liquor? They even have god of liquor too. Like do your research please it's part of the culture

Please just go outside and get a life and maybe a real job. The Ml is a future liquor deity and people knows Liquor brewer plays important roles in most chinese wuxia drama. Plus literally all these liquor in the drama are brewed from rice, honey, hawkthorns and herbs which are not as bad as current day liquor. Some are also brewed from wild grapes which are proven to be good for health if consumed at the right amount. Do your research please before you decided to point out a part of the ancient chinese culture included in the drama
