Royal Feast is a gem !
Royal Feast may have an average rating on MDL, but for me, it’s truly underrated. Many viewers complain about the endless cooking scenes, but that’s actually the soul of the drama. Each dish is more than just food—it’s a symbol, a message, and often the only way Yao Zijin can express her feelings. What makes this drama so unique is its portrayal of subtle romance. There aren’t endless kisses or fan service moments, but the emotions are powerful. Even when Zijin and the Emperor are far apart, you can still feel how much they think of each other. “Some bonds are stronger than passion; they are woven from patience, loyalty, and unspoken devotion.” That is exactly what defines their relationship—rare, precious, and deeply moving.
This is also a true slow burn romance. The story takes its time, building emotions through longing glances, quiet misunderstandings, and sacrifices. It’s not a fairytale romance—it’s a story of mature love, tested by politics, responsibilities, and pain. If you’re looking for a drama that goes deeper than sweet clichés, Royal Feast is a gem waiting to be discovered. It’s not just about food, it’s about love in its most human, most vulnerable form.
